however there would be a limit to the unlimited

I am not saying that people are gonna 'download' 1 TB+ onto their Hard drives every month, but when you take streaming and Sky HD on demand into account it can easily go over if it's so easy to just watch stuff on such a connection. They do seem to have a cap on the charge tho, the most you can be billed is 100 euros per month if you go over.

They have the same data allowance (unlimited but with fair usage policy) for ADSL, FTTC and FTTH which really doesn't make sense. This FUP is grand for most ADSL and FTTC customers but with FTTH that 1 tb data can be used up in a matter of hours. Right now there are few FTTH customers in the country, but I'm certain with a major expansion of FTTH users this year, we should see the FUP change to reflect user patterns on these very fast connections. Customers with the 1000 meg FTTH should have at least a 5 tb unlimited fair usuage policy, particularly when steaming 4K video is involved.
How much will I be charged if I go over my broadband usage allowance? Excess usage is charged at €2.03 per GB up to a maximum of €24.40 inc VAT per month. eir Fibre packages with an unlimited usage allowance are subject to a fair usage policy of 1TB per month. Usage in excess of 1TB will be charged at €2.50 inc VAT for every 10GB up to a maximum of €100 inc VAT per month.
Shyboy wrote: » Absolutely, the main thing is that I am connected and many people would say that you are complaining about getting over 240 meg?? But, I just wanted to see why I am not getting nearer the 1000 Meg. It may well be the network card cannot handle it, I thought that the card in my laptop and PC can handle 1 GB but I could be wrong... If I can't get it sorted, I will just drop down to the 300 MB package.

From what I've read here in the past uptake of Vodafone's FTTH is very low because it is only available in areas with very good internet already such as fast FTTC or Virgin Media.
