The thought of a Fat Frog makes my teeth hurt. I remember the furore over alco-pops when they first arrived. Hooch was one I recall. It was apocalyptic stuff in the papers. It's funny to remember just how innocent a nation we still were in the 90s.

I think the first ever can I had was Ritz. Can't remember anything other than it was not good. St. Stephen's Green on March 17th used be an amazing assortment of alcoholic drinks. The infamous 2 litre bottles of Scrumpy Jack. Good taste was not a consideration.

Whatever happened to Aftershock? That used to be extremely popular about 15 years ago. Brutal stuff. The different colours. It was like asking would you rather be kicked in the balls or have your toenails extracted by a pliers.

I'm pretty certain that I would throw up the second red aftershock hit the back of my throat these days. Just can't be dealing with that sort of thing any more.

There was a blue one, a black one and a green one too but I can't remember the flavours.

Goldschlager was another horrific tasting shot. Why the f*ck did we put these things into our bodies? Some insane amounts and concoctions drank over the years. I have awful memories of a "flatliner" which was a half shot of tequila with a line of tobasco over it and topped up with another half of sambuca.

Mind you, I was still never as locked as Venjur was when Leinster beat Northampton.

West of the Shannon are a funny breed. The old lad was from Mayo as is the current Mrs. Buer so I spend a little time in pubs down that neck of the woods.

Brandy and port. What the f*ck is that about? Nowhere else in the country have I seen people use a significantly potent alcoholic drink in its own right as a mixer. I've tried it. Doesn't actually taste as bad as I thought. But you'd be legless in a couple of hours.

I used work in Rolys in Ballsbridge and brandy and port was a very popular after dinner drink

That sounds disgusting, but aftershock is only 30%, and the WKD is only about 4%, so it is very much the alcoholic equivalent of a double vodka red bull - which I'll throw down in no time at all.

I'm just back from Söll.

My flight home was at 10am on Saturday from munich. We were collected at 5.30. I have no idea what time I got home at. I obviously finished packing when I got home, and when I unpacked I found several mini bottles of jaeger (full and empty) and some jenga pieces in my suitcase.

Lucky so-and-so! Söll is a great spot, not the best skiing but great apres-ski. Did the night skiing one time after 3 hours apres ski drinking in the bar at the bottom... let's just say drunk skiing is probably not a good idea!

First time skiing for me. Thought the setup in Soll was great with being able to access the other resorts. We went to the igloos at Brixton on Friday. Lots of red slopes for a beginner!!

We did the night tobogganing after a bit of après... wow.

Also had the best steak of my life in soll.

Fair play, reds on your first week is pretty good. Some nice runs down to Brixen alright. Sounds like you've got the bug now!

There is a pretty good sweet spot around a couple drinks in where I definitely become a better skier. Alas, the ability falls off a cliff edge as the drink increase.

I'm off to Ischgl in a month - can't wait. Austria is always a great spot, better than the French and Swiss resorts.
