There is a serious push by the United States and Europe to paint them as some lunatics , scaremongering to justify war spending and missile shields and more US military presence closer to them, which any person could see why that would piss them off. Things will get real soon when there has been enough media and scaremongering to justify the United States planting more shields around Europe and close to Russia, because Russia won't tolerate that and rightly so , the same way the US wouldn't tolerate missile in Cuba or anywhere near their country. Hopefully Trump comes good on his word of better relations with Russia so we can all see this hype and bullsh*t for what it really is.

Just watched the RTE News here and according to them, Putin said he's basically gonna sit tight till Trump takes office at this stage. Trump for his part has tweeted his support of Putin's restraint to Obama's move. Does seem odd that the outgoing US administration would seek to poke the bear in it's last few weeks of office - surely they're not so stupid / petty as to try and raise tensions just to get at Trump?

No point in being the world's super power if you don't intend to use that power. When it became clear that he wouldn't use that power, the US lost much of it's influence in many quarters. God knows what Trump will be like, domestically or internationally. Putin seems to think he will be manageable, I hope he is right.
