Aer Lingus Fleet/Routes Discussion

The seat map for the B767-200 being leased by EI next year are available on the Aer Lingus website, the seating is 2,3,2 in economy (As was suspected) and 2,2,2 in business

There are 189 economy seats and 12 Business seats making a total of the reported 201 seats.

Anyone know whether the B767 will be repainted, partially or entirely, in the EI colours for the 6 months that its leased for?

Some of the 332s don't have a BUMP option. It's an extra poke option that requires a tech log log entry.

Don't think any of the 200s have it..ha and log entries are few and far between even when it's used because they installed ACMS software to monitor it to report back if used.

Saw it posted somewhere from the CEO talk the other night that it was 37 in total. (might have been a pic of a powerpoint slide on facebook or twitter)
Also saw the cheesy looking "our starting 15 for Summer 2017" in relation to the longhaul fleet. Why does the CEO need to show the names of the aircraft? Seems like a bit of a filer slide?
I do really like the EI tradition of naming the aircraft, just dont see the place for it in a CEO briefing/speech.

Playing to the market I would think. The yanks love the whole "Irish" thing (Padraig, Caoimhe etc)

Most Irish people can't pronounce the name "Caoimhe" when reading the name, let alone the Yanks

Will this just be a temp lease for the summer or longer term? If long term I assume they will get rid of those blue seats...!!!

Oh yeah, I should venture it'll be a long-termer. They're having to change it from C20Y120 to the standard Y174 layout, so I think it'll come with the more standard EI seats and also be a long-term lease.

It was a play on their Irish Rugby sponsorship, 15 starting aircraft, 15 starting players. The sponsorship has been pretty high profile and was a key factor in their strategy to refresh and modernise the brand without going through a costly and ultimately unnecessary rebranding. So far it's been quite successful for Aer Lingus so they're likely to plug it wherever they can, the slide was a quick and effective way to do that and show the expanded fleet at the same time.

I believe Aeroflot use the standard airbus flight deck mean the controls should be labelled in English, so no real changes needed there.
As mentioned above the cabin will be changed over to the standard EI one, although what seats they will use is unknown. I very much doubt they will install wifi right now, I would imagine this will begin to happen as part of a much larger IAG wide plan

Link above showed that it was leased from GECAS so cant see an international leasing company having Russian cockpit labels. As noted above I would expect standard English, maybe with Russian temp stickers over them to help the Aeroflot flight crews?

You'd be incorrect, every aircraft that leaves the Airbus factory is 'in English' as are all the manuals and documents related to it. There are very few cockpit 'dials' in an Airbus, it's an EFIS /ECAM TFT flat screen display type system with electronically generated symbology rather than dials or indicators, even the standby indicators are electronic these days. As an ex Russian aircraft the only additional feature it might have is a metric altimeter.

From what I am hearing SH fleet is likely to be 38 (+1 on S-2016) but subject to change. With BHD ops changes it 2 more based out of DUB. Not sure it's fully confirmed but lots of time as it's really over peak (end of May-mid Sep) when they need it.

Which will be modded out along with the pin programming for the metric alt on the PFD.

Why would Aeroflot 'store' a 2009 320? Quick glance at airfleets show they have much older 320's active. Could this be a 'troublesome' aircraft that was first on their list for getting rid of?

Not necessarily, lease agreement costs ,payments and T&Cs are far more likely to end lease agreements like this. It's not uncommon to see airlines not renew lease contracts of newer aircraft due to cost etc. A 15 year old a320 will have a more favourable lease than a 5 year old one even though they have more or less the same day to day costs and fuel efficiency once major checks are out of the way.
Either EI or GECAS engineers I'm sure will fully review the condition of the aircraft before allowing it to enter service with its new owner.
