It's so they can sell ocd folk the joycon colour set where they do the opposite colours. You'd have a blue and red set after spending the extra money.

As for 12switch, if it had online I'd say it's be perfect as a welcome gift to online subscribers in winter. But I don't think it does so shrug.

Based on limited stock rumours, anyone else thinking that they are going to keep supply tight to stimulate demand? Nothing like making it difficult to get something to increase desirability. Then, in theory, by Christmas the market will be primed.

Haven't heard anything from GameStop. I wonder if the follow up calls looking for a bigger deposit are from stores that have exceeded or are close to their day one allocation?

Talk online is that stock is going to be low across the board. Nintendo are also bastards for keeping supply low to drive demand and hype. The recent NES classic is a prime example of this.

I thought the same as you on the voice chat through the smart phone, until I thought about when you take it on the go, the console will probably tether through your phone anyway for such things, so perhaps it works that way for a reason? It's not as simple as Nintendo keeping stock low on purpose. It's due to Nintendo not owning any warehousing network. The low initial stock figures are a result of that unfortunately.

Nintendo have been in the hardware business long enough now to have sorted this sort of thing out as if a software company like Microsoft can manage it for there consoles, why not them?

Because Microsoft are a massive multinational and can afford it and have a business big enough where the cost outweighs the benefit. Same with Sony who don't just do videogames. For Nintendo whose sole business is videogames it makes absolutely no financial sense to do so. EA and Ubisoft are the same, as are other videogame publishers.

People thinking this is a result of moronic so called journalists running their mouths off thinking that they have the answers for everything. However business is never that simple and if they did some actual journalism they would understand this. It's not a simple case of Nintendo withholding stock. If they don't have guaranteed sales they have to do so or end up paying through the teeth for rental space on unsold stock.

Pretty crazy seeing some comments here...

Uncharted doesn't interest anyone? The last of us? RPGs in general? Those heavy rain games? Racing games? GTA(unless you're on PC)...Gran turismo anyone? Best racing game experience I ever had was GT5 with a racing wheel. Red dead redemption no?

I could go on and on and on. I'm not gonna pretend I care about reviews or GOTY awards...but if you've stuck to a nintendo system you've missed out on some of the greatest games. If you've stuck to a PC you've missed out too.

If you can afford a good PC thats great. Throw in a nintendo sure, you're hitting alot of those 3rd parties. But thats quite expensive when you can get all of the third parties on a playstation along with...an **** load of diverse exclusives. Heck even the little ones like Journey were great. Try an justify it all you want. Playstation does have alot more exclusives than Nintendo and you're living in a dream world if you can't see that, year after year there is gonna be multiple games from every genre that aren't on a PC or nintendo. Xbox used to but for some reason ditched that.

This is coming from a get everything gamer. If I can get a game on PC I will because it runs smoother and I like Mouse/Keyboard more than controller for almost everything. Not to mention strategy games are non existent on consoles. But thats that, there would be loads of games I would have missed, from Valkyria chronicles, heck you all mention bloodbourne and that but that series started out on Ps3 as Demons souls. Dark souls only exists because of demons souls so does bloodbourne.

I mean jeez, argubly the best superhero game i've played is infamous 2, and now those devs are making a spiderman game...

This console cycle I agree picking a PS4 to match with a PC is the only way to go. The switch while cool lacks enough wow factor titles just like the Xbone. Hopefully that will change but only 5 titles at launch is a joke as is the overall pricing.

Uncharted is alright. Last of Us, that's a good one. David Cage games? Utter ****. RPGs? Outside of Persona 5 they are on PC. Racing games? Not for me.

Conversely if you don't have a PC or Nintendo system you are missing out on some of the best games ever made.

Basically if you can afford it and actually like videogames you'd have the PC and Nintendo console and probably a PS4 as well.

I have to say I agree with the general sentiment that the reveal was disappointing.

Personally while the pricing didn't look great or the launch line up too sexy the stuff that worries me the most is the other games coming and the online plans.

Particularly the games to come. I fully expected an avalanche of teasers for games that will come and not just in the next year. I mean if this is to essentially replace both handheld and home consoles surely every internal 1st and 2nd party developer should be working on new software? Surely that should manifest as 10-15 games? Where's metroid?? It's a mistep.

Anyway I hope that Nintendo actually try to address some of the concerns before launch else I will be worried.

That is when third party is important.

And sure, thats a nice array of games as I said earlier, some of them are really amazing. In particular i'm a smash bros fan, zelda and mario. But it just doesn't compare to the amount you can get on a PS.

Many of the best consoles ever made launched with less.

Even more launched with nothing worth playing.

In comparison to consoles with 4 years back catalogue it's lacking. Compared to most console launches it's pretty good considering how good Zelda promises to be.

True but its only really Zelda and Mario at this point and Marios a fair bit down the road. Splitoon 2 is more like added DLC to the original and Skyrim is well past its sell by date at this point. **** 1-2 switch, its a tech demo not a full game.

The 3DS recovered from a similar bad launch window. If the Switch can take over that market it could do the same.

Still it's impossible to call. I was expecting Pokémon sun and moon 2 at this event to cement that. Pokémon is riding on a wave of popularity and would have been a shoe in and also satiate the people looking for a home Pokémon. I kind of think the system needs that early 2018.

No, totally different chipset. It's more than powerful enough to run WiiU games but it would be a lot more labour intensive than say porting from PC to PS4 and One.

No Pokémon game so far is a bit crazy I think, with the success of Pokémon Go I thought it was a no brainer...

I haven't much love for the series as it kind of passed me by but I would have thought Pokémon, ports of Smash and Mario Maker would have kept a few of us who didn't buy Wii U's ticking over....

Not sure I can pay full whack for Switch for Zelda or just get a Wii U, or just wait it all out until Xmas and get Mario and Zelda, I've plenty to play backlog wise...

I think they will never want their mainline pokemon series on the home consoles. Its pretty much a selling point for their handhelds. They could disrupt their own system. Only spin offs i'd guess. Like pokemon 64 and snap and other random ones.

This is gas, it's not Nintendo's fault that they fail to meet demand, but journalists fault for pointing it out?

Afraid to have too much supply? Then take pre-orders earlier (or in the case of the mini-nes, take pre-orders at any point!). Under supplying is a very valid marketing strategy that is proven to work at times. And it's happened way to often with Nintendo for it to still be considered an innocent miscalculation of demand. People have valid reasons and are right to be questioning it.

Eh, when was the last time you couldn't get an EA or Ubisoft game?
