Seriously - the mind is boggling on this one.
Me M40+ Full Licence since '95 full NCB on 2 separate non mirrored policies.
Spouse F35+ Full Licence but only ever a named driver on my policy.

Last year AXA via Chill 840 - this was okay as Spouse only had a provisional at the time.

Renewal this year "Cheapest" was 1120 with AXA via Chill.
Quote of the day is:
"Your wife is now a novice (passed test mid policy) so she can drive unaccompanied - so she's a higher risk - hence the increase"
Tried all online forms but car is over 15yrs old so no online quotes.
Got a few callbacks and made a few calls all coming in over the renewal price from Chill.
Rang Chill to see if I could do better - no joy.
Even AXA Direct couldn't do (much)better had an issue with age of car quoted as I had a renewal offer in place.

A few friends recommended a local Broker:
Fitzgerald Insurances Kanturk.
Went in after work.
Dealt face to face with the helpful staff got a policy for 815 from....
wait for it.....
AXA!

I ended up with the same policy for less than I paid last year! TPFT + Windscreen + NCB Protection 500 excess with the same company!
Paid in full - cert is on the kitchen counter waiting to be put into window holder.

Lost my no claims bonus last year when a tree fell on my car.

No penalty points, Full licence for 11 years.

Unfortunately a lot of companies wouldn't even quote me.

Bank of Ireland quoted me 1200 which I've gone for.

Can I just say on FBD, the most unprofessional, inept company I've come across when dealing with a claim. Worse than useless. Certainly think twice before taking out any insurance policy with FBD.

I'd imagine if the contaminated fuel came from a garage then the insurer will pursue the garage for recovery under their own (the garage) public liability insurance.

I dont think it would be too easy to prove where the fuel was bought .
When did the damage occur , what fill of fuel caused it .
Most people will fill in 3 or 4 different filling stations and a lot wont get receipts , so no proof the fuel was bought at a certain station

EU licence can cost as much as 42% more that I.E. licence , Also lee-way for 3 PPoints can't be negotiated as no way to prove clean record

Cheapest i can get anywhere is €2003 with liberty through chill and thats only TPFT with 3rd party extension feel as if the 3 years no claims ive built up are irrelevant

A percentage of the base premium, generally around 10 -15%.

Heard a radio report over Christmas that 1 in 14 drivers doesn't have insurance, no wonder the rest of us are paying such high premiums. Of equal concern is that fact that these drivers won't have motor tax or NCT either so likely to be driving dangerous cars. Maybe we should all blitz our politicians for action. The insurance industry also should be doing more to protect those who are compliant.

Other quotes I got were all €2000+ except for AXA.
Got quoted €696 from AXA (both online and then confirmed over phone). Had all details in (make,model etc etc) until I went to pay. Put in reg no and all of a sudden quote has changed to €2300. How on earth can it jump so much when no details had changed?

There are 7 Irish spec models and 8 uk import model i20's

If when you enter the reg number and it gives you option to choose the car u own, it's advises you that price is subject to change when car reg is verified.

It's like when you went to buy car and garage gave you multiple prices..
