The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 3.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.

I just never understood needing to get a photo with celebrities, I never will. If you really are happy about what he's done in his career and as an inspiration then at least be the one person who doesn't ask him for something the moment you meet him. You know someone couldn't possibly enjoy doing endless soulless selfies, but ye'll put him through 'just one more' for you.

There are circumstances where it is part of his job, but on a basic human level just watch a video where he's doing selfie after selfie and tell me you want to thank him by making him do another.

Hard to dress up Conor shooting down a request from a fan that would have taken 5 seconds tbf. Yeah he's under no obligation but one of Conor's best traits is he has remained grounded and speaks about how without the support he receives he wouldn't be where he is. With that said, after reading Tyson's book where he talked about hiring bodyguards for his FAN'S safety after he had assaulted a bunch of them, getting to walk away from an encounter with a pro fighter (who by their very nature have to be prone to moments of grumpiness) with your health should always be considered a good outcome

The day I seen Conor in town he refused four or five selfies alright but he gave four or five too. I had a small gig camera with me and so held it at chest level while he was giving the selfies a few feet away, wished him all the best in New York as walked off, to which he said 'Thanks, brother' and gave me a thumbs up.

Here's the way I look at it, if he was to give everyone a selfie, he'd never be able to go into town (or almost anywhere in public) as it wouldn't just mean giving those selfies that he refuses, it would also mean giving selfies to everyone in the inevitable crowd that would gather and gather it certainly does.

Even if you look at how he was in Smithfield after coming out of the clinic, a quiet part of town, you can see how intensive it can be. In the city centre he has to keep moving if he wants to get anywhere tbf.

Can't believe there is about 2 pages of asking if he won't pose for a photo does that make him arrogant. You were probably the 75th person to ask him that day. He's just a person too and probably has days where he just wants to tell people to f*ck off. It was said it was a quiet street, maybe he went that way to avoid taking photos.

Conor hired Charlie as a bodyguard probably for the very reason he was finding it hard to walk around town without taking a million photos. That and he's loyal to his friends. He's done a lot for Charlie since the terrible tragedy last year.

I got a small video with Conor (6 awkward seconds of me thinking I pressed camera instead of video and him saying "what are ya at ffs" at the end :pac:) and he couldn't have been nicer to me.

I don't do social media so I don't get photos for likes. I hope to print the photos I got with John/Richie S/Richy C/Charlie/Sinead/Dylan etc out into a collage some day and put it in a frame. It's just like any other photo I've ever taken - a snapshot of where I was in my life and something to look back on in 20 or 30 years (touch wood) to see how far I've come and how far (hopefully) Irish MMA has come.

Early days but Sinead Kavanagh, in particular, has serious potential in the sense she has raw power which is a rarity in wMMA. Firas Zahabi in his latest video said that raw power can't be taught - it can only be improved on to small degrees - and he cited the number 1 factor in raw power is anatomy, primarily where your muscles and tendons attach to your joints. A few millimeters difference up or down can separate Rumble power from DC power.

If she continues to improve her wrestling she'll be well able to compete at the highest level and the UFC needs more girls for the new 145lb division.

No, seriously, probably:

1) Woodley 2) Cody 3) Ferguson 4) Mayweather 5) Khabib 6) Nate.

A controversial list but I'm looking at this from the perspective the UFC is no longer reaching towards being a legitimate sport. I.e. I'm looking at it from business and career standpoints. I'll give my reasoning below (however flawed it might be):

1. Woodley is the smartest choice from a pure risk/reward perspective, both for Conor and the UFC.

If he goes up and wins, the reward for Conor is the first man to ever hold titles in 3 weight classes (and he could still argue "simultaneously"). His star then becomes even more enormous. The UFC can promote it as another history fight, Woodley will be the heel villain in the build-up and Conor knows all he has to do to trigger Woodley is call him a "b1tch".

If he goes up and loses, then he retains his LW title and all he has to do is rinse/repeat his UFC 196 post-fight performance - blow it off as taking a shot and missing....and apologising to absolutely nobody.

(Incidentally I'd be picking Conor all day long against Woodley. Brendan Schaub said the same. Woodley is a good style match-up. He's just a bigger version of Eddie.)

2. Cody. They have history from TUF 22, Cody is game to fight at 145/150. It'd be a high-profile, low-risk fight for Conor in the sense his belt wouldn't be on the line and Cody is nowhere near as dangerous as anybody else on the list.

From the UFC's perspective, again it's low-risk, high-reward. If Conor destroys him then Cody goes back to his own division and is a bigger star for the balls he showed in stepping up. If Cody somehow wins, then they have 2 superstars on their hands and Conor still has his 155lb belt. If it's a barn-stormer either way both men come out bigger stars.

3. Ferguson is also managed by Audie Attar and has a stand-up style. The former might give him an advantage in securing the fight behind the scenes (over Woodley/Cody), the latter most certainly does. He might shoot on Conor at some stage and look to use some tricky 10th Planet stuff but it promises to be a mostly-stand-up fight.

It's not a super-attractive fight for the UFC though. It won't sell as much as a Woodley fight and Tony isn't exactly dynamite in Pressers. But it's more likely than tossing Conor the Russian bear.

4. Floyd. Huge $$$ all around. $2.317 debt underwritten by Goldman Sachs and Deustche Bank is a noose around the UFC's neck. If they can take those type of singular paydays cross-promoting in the future, they will. And I mean with both boxing and WWE. It's all about the $$$ now for the new owners and they are huge into content creation and cross-platforming.

For Conor it's honestly the lowest-risk, highest-reward thing he can do. It's a no-lose situation. Not one person will give him a hope of winning. If he pulls it off, he goes down as immortal. If he gets KO'd, he'll just go back to MMA. If he even lands a couple of good shots he'll have done more than most of Floyds recent opponents.

Either way he makes a fortune.

5. Khabib is the most deserving contender and the rightful next challenger. Let's assume for the sake of argument that Khabib beats Ferguson. The UFC would be mental not to allow Conor to fight Woodley or Cody FIRST (another huge payday) and then try sort out Conor v Khabib in RUSSIA 2018 and build it into a Rocky plot. Have Khabib out in the snow wrestling bears while Conor is running up the sides of mountains. Conor loves Rocky films and the UFC wants to crack Russia. It makes sense to hold that fight back (from a business standpoint).

Also, I wouldn't write Ferguson off against Khabib. By any stretch. RDA wanted no part of that tricky rubber guard play that Tony likes. Khabib might cut through it like a knife through butter but I still wouldn't write him off. And on the feet Ferguson can 100% head-kick KO Khabib or knock him senseless with a punch. Johnson had Khabib in big trouble early.

6. Nate. The UFC would need to be INSANE to make this fight.

He's literally the last option they would consider right now - they are keeping in the back-pocket for whenever Conor loses next. That trilogy is money in the bank for the UFC, there's no way on Gods green earth they play that card now. Nate asks for way too much $, he presents a tough stylistic match-up for Conor too. I fancy Conor to win (again) but there's no way Dana is letting that happen soon.

Why would you pay Nate $16-18 million total when you could get Cody or Woodley to fight for $3.5 million including PPV points? The worst business and sporting decision the UFC could make is the Nate fight (now). Business wise it would need to sell 450,000 more PPV's than Conor v Woodley to make sense. It won't.

From a sporting standpoint, it makes ZERO sense. It made zero sense last year but even less sense now Conor is LW champion. At least Woodley and Cody are meaningless fights outside the division. Nate would be skipping 2 contenders.

They hold the Diaz trilogy fight until Conor loses AND/OR until Nate has wasted all his money on weed and takes a reduced payday.

Edit: I'd actually love to see the winner of Aldo-Holloway fight Conor again. Preferably Max, purely because it'd be a stand-up battle and Eddie briefly showed with those leg kicks that Conor's wide stance leaves him susceptible to having his base stripped from him. It was eye-opening to see Eddie abandon the leg kicks so quickly.

Yep.

I don't see any other route WME/IMG are going to go down other than the WWE model. They can't script the outcome but they can disregard the relevance of rankings and belts pretty fast. They already have to an extent.

Dont overlook Max Holloway. Hes probably the most improved fighter in the ufc and has gone on a 10 fight win streak after their first fight went the distance. If not the next fight i can see this fight as one of McGregors next 3 fights. Holloway will be fighting at lightweight by then or just for that fight.
I can see the weight class thing being dumbed down a bit more under the new ufc management and their focus will be geared more on creating match ups rather than stringent weight classes fights. Catch weights will be more of a thing too. Generates high ppv and the fighter coming up a weight loses no cast in defeat.

Holloway would be a great fight to make after he gets past Aldo, he is a proven draw too didnt 206 do good numbers ppv wise? a good stylistic match up for Conor although I would bet my house hes wanting the hardest fight Khalabib or Woodley being the competitor he is.

I honestly think the current trend of "superfights" is only going to last so long. People are going to lose interest in seeing pointless, irrelevant fight quite quickly, give it two years and I'm fairly confident the UFC will be back to how it was in the past.

We have been given 1 I can count of though so they havent even started, McGregor Alvarez is all I can think of.
