I can see what she means though. Some people are saying that she is incompetent whilst others are saying that she is corrupt. To use the word "she" is a terrible attack on her character!

It's a new low for Northern politics (which is shocking considering how low it has stooped in the past) for a politician to use 1) such a blatant cry to sectarianism, and 2) play the "sexism" card to try and distract from corruption.

They likely had no idea whether any of the claims were true or false as most British media outlets don't know where northern Ireland is and know very little about its internal politics.

I haven't followed this controversy in great detail, but when I hear a female politician playing the oppressed female card I know that that politician is in trouble and that she knows it.

It happened years ago here when Dick Spring wiped the floor with PD leader Mary Harney in an election tv debate. The followiing day Liz O'Donnell was on tv to tell us that Dick Spring had been sexist in the debate.

Any female politician who peddles that nonsense should never get another vote.

It's actually quite demeaning towards women in general the way she has pulled this 'damsel in distress' victim card instead of taking responsibility for her own failings.

The more dangerous thing is the playing to the DUP/unionist rabble, with the suggestion that SF see her as some sort of target.

Nesbitt has called for her resignation ( not stepping aside) but Arlene is playing to the rabble trying to suggest it is SF trying to get her.

They'll still be the biggest party. They were only ever a one issue party and for the majority of their voters that one issue is the biggest thing.

Maybe not as the UUP might start to make up ground amongst unionist voters. As the reality of brexit sets in and people realise that they are going to be a lot worse off the DUP will be a hard sell. SF could end up the largest party as the DUP and UUP scrap it out

I think that SF will push out the spin doctors with a view to helping DUP fans to move elsewhere (UUP?) so that SF become the larger party.
In the 2016 Assembly elections the DUP had 29.4% of votes whereas SF had 24%.
