“MASTERPIECE! Inside is a 2D puzzle platformer that builds upon what made Limbo great, and in fact builds something greater.” 10/10 – IGN “Inside expands on the concepts and scope of its predecessor in wildly creative ways, and it's so immaculately designed and constructed from top to bottom that it almost feels suitable for display in an art museum. This is one hell of a followup.” 5/5 – Giant Bomb “The universe Inside depicts is one of the eeriest, most captivating settings I've ever encountered in a game.” 9.5/10 – Polygon

Its very well made, gorgeous to look at but at the end it just rang hollow with me. I found the puzzles to be overly simple and at the end I was left with more questions than answers - which isn't a bad thing, but I would have loved to have found out more about the world its set in. I actually enjoyed limbo more.

In fact one of the biggest points in favour of not being human is all the gruesome deaths. Only one person who is killed during the game actually produces genuine gore and its one of the scientists near the end. Everything else just falls apart like its made of some of doughy product. Limbs fall off with no blood, the kid gets blasted apart in a sonic wave and he just falls apart etc. I think the opening is less people being kidnapped but products that have been grown being farmed and shipped to be processed into workers and other products.

Only have 15GB allowance which is why i am careful enough using it but this game sounds like it would be worth allocating a portion of my allowance on. Recent Sony hacks are another reason I don't want to use my debit card on the PSN. Layers of Fear is another game I want to play that I can't purchase on disc.

Many of the later puzzles were badly designed as well with many puzzle elements hidden from the player to make them tougher than they actually were. Inside on the other hand was what Limbo should have been. Excellent stuff and one of the best games of the year. Haven't been this surprised by a company following up a dodgy game with something excellent since That Game Company followed up Flower with Journey (and I'll go to my grave saying Flower had the worst motion controls ever in a game).

To call a spade a spade, inside is a mediocre platform/puzzler with neither element being of any high level of quality. It has nothing important to say about anything, and is very much something that looks nice, and is well made, but is wholly forgettable. The levels of praise it recieves baffles me. As retro said, it is the dictionary definition of pretentiousness.
