Worst venue ever was Towers in Clondalkin. Terrible pitch and "bar" was a tent serving hot whiskies in paper cups and then having to get the LUAS which was full of scumbags.

Jesus I remember that one. Thought it was new years eve though. It was an absolutely miserable few hours either way!

Jayzus, poor aul Round Towers is getting it in the neck. I've been at a few charity games there over the years. The last one was a pre season challenge game against Galway a few years ago. It was to commemorate the opening of a new pitch or something and it was great craic. Baltic, but great craic. The bar was indeed in a tent, but at least, there WAS one. Club members were grilling up burgers and hot dogs with great gusto and, there was good cheer and a wonderful community spirit all around. There was a brass band too. You don't really get that at Parnell Park.

The game never comes close to selling out when it's in Killarney. It sure as heck ain't gonna sell out when it's in Tralee.

He may get a look in during the O'Byrne Cup and/or the league, but I can't see him making the bench come the summer time, unless he has a truely spectacular Spring. Jim Gavin doesn't have habit of just parachuting players in out of the blue, unless they have served their apprenticeship first. If there is a pressing need, like there was in midfield or a gaping hole left by more departures, the next Brian Fenton or John Small may appear, but we ain't exactly short on options up front.

Few high profile management changes in place, Curran and speedy to plunketts and syls, anybody hear of any outgoings?

Skerries also have someone new in for their first year in div 1 but could struggle without smith up top

What's the story with Smith Shaun ? .. was defo the man for keeping the scoreboard ticking for Skerries - he could've kicked them blindfolded against Whitehall in the SFC

Well I am presuming he will be with the 21s or the senior training panel. I could be wrong, though that usually prevents them lining out for club

I'll defend until my dying day, my right to engage in childish and immature 'na na na na, we won and you didn't' off season slagging and banter with our main rivals. But I am very wary of getting up on my pantomime high horse, about the current shenanigans west of the Shannon. (Except to ask, between Mayo, Roscommon and Galway, is there something in the feckin' water? :eek: ) I've an awful feeling our own situation with the hurlers, is about to get worse before it gets better.

Hurlers current main problem is that they will be without both Schuttes, David Treacy, O'Connor, Gough and possibly Seán Treacy be on GC mind as well - for the league.

Difficult to see them surviving without them and with the retirements and droppings off the panel.

Could be a difficult year.

He's been brilliant for us. A good confident GK. Good speaker, keeps the defence on their toes. Thanks for that,sounds like he's possibly of an inter county standard and should be looked at.Matthew Flanagan atm is looking most likely heir to take over said position long term.

Age plays a factor - if he was to be called up, I guess he would be one of the oldest players to make an inter-county debut.

Crokes beat Mun last night in U21 final. Mad time of year to be playing a final.

I like the U21 champo, but it's really an afterthought in the calendar. I suppose with most of the senior teams fielding U21 players, (BK would've had Comerford, Elliott & Small) it's a case of waiting for everything else to finish before the 21's is concluded. Again, nothing against the good people of Finians Newcastle, but a county final should've been in PP, O'Toole or Blakestown, adding to the feel that the U21's is an inconvenience to some.

Dunno. Depends on how many more All Irelands the core of the current squad wins. Right now, with 4 AI wins, I'd rank them as the second greatest Dublin team of all time, behind Heffo's '70's team. I'd also have them behind the great Kerry teams of the same era & probably the Kerry team of the noughties. That lot made it to what, 8 or 9 All Ireland finals in 10 years? Our current squad have a long way to go to match that. If they can tag on a couple more All Irelands, before the core of the current squad retires, they'll be well on the way though. Time will tell, I suppose.

I've noticed lately that the thing to call them is the greatest "Dublin" team of all times.

I dont know how they'll be remembered, I don't care really that much. Once Spillane is around he convince anyone that micko was the best ever manager and his Kerry team the best ever, regardless. I don't think Spillanes team was the best ever kerry team.

Looking back at things , I don't really care for the collective opinion as in GAA things are said so many times that fools believe them.

I find myself respecting things written by other played like D and T O'S. I like the way say someone like David Brady is spoken about by past players about how tough he was.

I find them to be the most honest opinions out there , far more honest than a fan like me or a county spin man like Spillane throwing out self promoting or own county promoting opinions.

This team have brought me great enjoyment and I'll remember them in a great light.

Regardless of ability they will never be considered the best team ever. Indeed many Tyrone supporters struggle with it and Kerry supporters too.

There will be a collective opinion on it, if that's what you are asking, then I think they will be considered
The Best Dublin Team Ever.

That's the only way to work a superlative into it without hurting too many too much.

There's a lack of serious competition I think which actually may prove detrimental to Dublins legacy you know.

Not Dublins fault at all, there's nobody close to them at the minute and it's up for everyone else to close the gap.

But because they're so far ahead I actually think it becomes a bit 'meh' for the outsiders. But for example, if there was another team around which could lead to a rivalry of the quality of the Kerry/Tyrone Tyrone/Armagh games of the noughties I think it would bump them up a notch.

You can only beat what's in front of you though and Dublin have done that. 4/6 speaks for itself.

2011 was amazing. I wouldn't say we were half as good then as we are now though. Gavin has brought them to another level, the personnel and the way we plan
