What make of gin should I buy.

It will be for gin & tonic.

There is a lot of talk about Hendricks, there seems to a certain cache about it,that could be publicity. Some people have bought into it.

Also is there a better class of tonic thzn another?

No sign of the Tanquarey as advertised though.

Yes. I can't believe how expensive they have become. Used to be around Â£15 but they are worth it.

I'm pretty sure that these gins were never €15.
I'm not sure any gin is €15!

€20 is extremely cheap for a London Dry Gin. That even cheaper than Cork Dry Gin which is just flavourings added to alcohol. A London Dry Gin or a Distilled gin is alcohol, redistilled with real botanicas.

Â£14 sterling currently in the UK. I put sterling cos I bought it in the UK years ago.

Right now, some places are selling Gordons for €15; and both Lidl and Aldi's own brand gins (which are, to be honest, not bad) are under €15.

All of those are London Dry, assuming you were excluding compound gins from the equation.

Yes, and it's extremely cheap for a LDG.
Pretty sure those Tesco "premium" gins were never that cheap.

Noticed a new Irish gin in Lidl called Rabbit Island Gin. €24.99 just like Boyle's. Anyone know anything about it? Suspect it is made by West Cork Distillers.

Just while on the subject, is there any value to the idea that you should only use a slice of peel in your G&T rather than an entire slice of fruit, or is that simply a preference, or a different recipe?

Might be a martini you're thinking of.

I think it's entirely down to preference.

I love lime, so if I put lime in a g&t, I like to squeeze the juice in. But that's just me.

I don't believe in there being any one correct way to drink anything.

Has anyone here come across Nordés Galician gin?

I recently had a taste of it and it was really unusual and gorgeous - would love to get my hands on a bottle.

Google has been no good to me, and O'Brien's say they've tried it and ordered it but it won't be in till January.

Anyone come across it in Dublin?

So for their Shepherd's Purse, they copied the Blackwater bottle (same bottle, just the 70cl version) and for their Aldi gin they went for a squat, blue bottle rather like Gunpowder's.

Hmmmm.

In person and from a distance it looks exactly like Gunpowder. Can't say I'm a fan of it though, sampled some at a party the other night and to me it was quite sharp.
