Here in South Roscommon, the ducting was installed sometime during August/September and fibres on poles early October, nothing since.
So it's very clear that different stages of the job is being done by different crews and apart from sequencing them, there appears to be no real coordination.
But we're currently down for connection early/mid 2017.

Does anyone actually have an FTTH connection yet???

Delighted others are getting it but for me the experience so far has been most frustrating, 8 months later and I'm still not wired up, not only that but almost all of Dunshaughlin is now wired up except for my road and 1 other road. Looks like I'm not gonna be part of the first live dates for my exchange and will have to put up with several more months at least of my ADSL connection.

my patience is wearing thin tho, what makes thing's worse is seeing all the action starting back in April. The section of road I'm on saw the starting stages early July and 2 weeks ago all the tree's were cut for a second time and the poles marked for wiring. At this stage the paint marking this wiring is unreadable as it has almost disappeared due to ice and traffic. Perhap's they will be back next week but with every other route and spur wired up except 1, it's not looking hopeful.

I got this installed from the killinick exchange in wexford about 2 weeks ago. Current peak speedtest is 855Mb down and 95Mb up.
/my-result/5843048946 (I can't post links so there's the result code for the speedtest)

If anyone has any questions about the installation let me know and i'll try and answer them.

How long does it take for you to stop running constant speed tests and giggling manically to yourself?
Did you buy all new Gb gear?

Do you think they've abandoned your section for some reason?

I ran multiple speed tests from my PC connected with powerline adapters which tested about 230ish down, I did that a few times the first day then every 2 days or so to see if it changed as I was giving it a week. tested it last saturday with a direct ethernet connection and it tested 770ish, bought a 20m long ethernet cable now so I can always have the max speed.

I think it took about a week overall to get used to having the speeds.

Abandoned for now I reckon, a bit like in other exchanges it looks like they are doing up to a certain percentage and moving on. Tree cutting twice, a few ducting visits and wiring marking, seems all a bit of a waste if it's just gonna sit there for another few weeks/months.

The road leading on from the bottom of my road was wired up in 90 minutes last Tuesday morning. I presumed they were going to follow on to my road later that day and finally finish it, would have taken no more than 1 hour to wire the road up. Theres 20 houses on it over a 500 meter distance and only 300 meters requires wiring.

Whats annoying more than anything is so many other areas had no signs of any work till a few weeks ago and are ready to go live yet development started on this section of road 6 months ago and every few weeks they return to do an hours work and leave again.

Theres only 2/3 working weeks left to Christmas, Im still hoping they'll just randomly appear over the next week and finish it, one morning would do it!.

Gonzo, I would have expected 900+, but maybe it'll keep climbing over time. If it does reach 900 I'll post the speed here again.

few questions!

1 - How soon after you ordered did you get the install?

2 - Can you ask them to install the connection/modem into a room of your choice?

3 - How long does installation take?

4 - Do they rip tiles up/drill through walls etc?

Although the Eir checker tells me that Fibre Extreme is available to me and let me place an order, I got an email back from Eir Sales to say that it is not available...

I checked again on the Line checker again now (just in case it had changed) but it still says that it is available to me....

Maybe your road is complete long before the rest of your exchange and the line checker passes? Your exchange is listed as early/mid 2017. Did the Eir sales guy give any indication when you will be able to order?

Gonzo,

1. It took 3 weeks exactly, we ordered 28/10 and got it 18/11

2. Yes, we chose the location, the main condition is that you need 2 wall sockets(or 1 with an extension lead). I'm not sure how far into the house they will put it as we have it beside an outside wall, but he did ask where we wanted it.

3. He arrived about 9:30 and finished about 1, This can probably vary a bit depending on how much external wiring needs to be done, he needed to bring it back across 2 poles before bringing it up to the house. I'd say 3 hours overall is probably a good estimate from when they arrive.

4. He drilled 1 hole in the wall where the fibre cable entered the house.

Any chance you could download a Linux iso over torrent ?

No, it was an email that I received back from the Eir Sales Team regarding the order that I placed. They didn't give any indication of when it would be available...

I am going to ring them tomorrow...:(

Eir support is **** anyway when it comes to proper communication when it's related to Open Eir's work.

Also seeing the speeds this can do, can't wait for the NBP and this rollout to get into full swing. Just a shame they seem to be doing bits in some places and then just leaving it, is there something we are missing because it surely makes sense to just finish places they've started?

It has to come up on there system before they can take your order it annoying but hey you will have FTTH soon so happy days.It annoying for me Notting happening in summerhill co Meath were down for early 2017/mid 2017 Kiltale done and it only 2km from me it killing me waiting on seeing something.The second FTTC still has to be done it has a green dot but no date for it going live it being like that for months would that be causing a delay for my area.

They may not see it as profitable and just not bother doing it until the NBP pays them to do it
