I wouldn't drive it now, but would make sense for someone getting on the insurance ladder.

I started with Seicento that had an engine and a gearbox and no optional extras at all ( if there were any...).

No harm trying, but I would very much doubt it. The E60 (with a decent NCT) has only recently gone bangernomics and for that kinda money you'd be getting the rougher ones.

Due to the ridiculous tax I think it far from bangernomics but it's under the 2k price. Savage motor all the same. Just out of interest would it be a concern that the back window and fly windows are so wet?

Yes it's a good diesel. Made by FIAT and one of the best diesel engines you can get in a car of this budget. But any typical modern diesel issue that could happen at any time will write off the car. I don't think getting a modern diesel car (common rail, DPF, DMF, turbo) on a bangernomics budget is wise, unless you are doing huge miles and desperately need the fuel savings. Even then, I'd go LPG. Not diesel. Or go old skool diesel if money is very tight and you can't afford another car if this one breaks.
