Just a tip for anyone thinking of buying the Nexbox A95X , if your TV is an older model Sony Bravia or one of the older model Philips TV's then you might run into problems with the HDMI connection . After a few seconds the screen turns pinky green , it's a known issue and they are trying to fix it with a firmware upgrade , you can read about it on their forums .

MXIII 2GB I find fine but an old box now - the KitKat version is stymied with Kodi 16 as last available version and no native H265 (OK through VLC).

i have my eye on it for a bit, i have a hankering after a forge tv box, they may have better support, at the mo i have a google nexus hitched to a htc 320 on lte, its quick, but waitng for a movie to load takes a tad long, i am waiting for a nexus fone to arrive, it has 2gig ddr3, this may speed things up a bit, as you say the feed back is important, but the specs are good

I have a 10 year old Philips TV and have no problems with my Nexbox A95X.

Got mine finally set up this weekend but it keeps dropping the hdmi connection.
Direct via hdmi or via my hdmi switch... doesnt matter.
The Beelink i bought around the same time does all of a sudden the same when plugged to the switch together but stopped doing so when i unplugged the nexbox.

Will have to box it till i can test it on a new(er) tv.

cant give you much advise on boxes as ive never had one but i suspect you might do better purchasing elsewhere online. do some research before hand though. i would recommend messing around with kodi first though on whatever devices you have at the moment, just so you know what you're getting into. plenty of advice on that throughout this thread and on youtube.

If you had read even a few pages of this thread, you wouldn't even be thinking of going near that box... If you want to buy locally, there are plenty of recommendations already posted.

However, as you admit yourself, you don't know what you are looking for so I would suggest that you do some research into what exactly these boxes can be used for (rather than completely misleading sellers adverts, like the one you linked) and how they actually work as they are not like the Sky/Virgin boxes that people are used to.

Feel free to ask any questions you want here (just be careful not to break the rules regarding content available on these boxes) and I'm sure everyone will be happy to help you out if they can.

I know how the boxes work, my dad has one, I just don't know what to look for with internal spec, as in what's inside the box.
Id rather it came with the apps installed but I'd get over having to do it myself.

You only need around 2.5 for SD streams and 5-6 for HD so even if you only get 10, you'll be laughing!

Fair enough. As I say, there's been plenty of chat on this thread about spec (even the last few pages) so if you have a look back, you'll know what to look for. If you're unsure, just post a link and someone will get back to you.

As for the content, I wouldn't use any apps on these boxes to be honest - most are full of pop up ads, malware and the picture quality is rubbish. Stick to Kodi and use the various add ons there. However, I'd recommend wiping Kodi and doing a fresh install so you only have the add ons that you will actually need and use. Less junk that's installed on the box, the better. I reckon most would do the same, but pretty much all of these boxes come with stuff installed on them......but that's as far as we go on that particular topic here....

Kodi needs an operating system to allow it run. As the USB stick doesnt have Win/Android/etc, although you can store it on there, it won't be able to run. And as your TV doesn't have an OS compatible with it.............

As far as I am aware, not only do you have to have a Smart TV, but your tv has to be an android tv (I think Sony are probably the only ones that do them at present, but I am open to correction). However, I have read multiple reports of the likes of Kodi, Plex etc. not running very smoothly or being very stable when installed directly to tv's and it is recommended that you run them via a specialised device (e.g. kodi on an android box) rather than directly from the tv.

So, maybe you've had a lucky escape....

No, not a stupid question at all. If you're using Kodi on your PC, just install the program like you normally would. If you're using an android box, just go into wherever "My Apps" (or whatever it's named) is and uninstall it. To reinstall, just go to the Kodi website.......but YouTube is your friend here as I don't want to get the thread locked by going any further.... :cool:

I've always just used Kodi on my PC which has 16GB RAM so no issues, what issues do you face with less ram with an android box? Just a smaller video buffer?
