My point is complaining every day of the week isn't going to speed things up, yes it's slow, yes their advertised rollout claims are looking like BS but people on the blue lines are acting as if Eir have come along and taken away their house. Seriously though getting invested and believing rollout figures is like believing Santa is real, they are more than likely never going to hit their targets on time. It's better to be sceptical and then not have to have a cry when you realise it was all made up.

You would be much better off trying to work out what areas are underway, Eir can't hear you here (they never responded to me even in their talk to). If you are really that mad over the rollout's slower than advertised progress then direct the moaning at Eir not a thread on boards because what does it achieve here? If all of you started complaining about it to Eir at least they'd be seeing it.

But it is a discussion forum about broadband. Some of us are interested in the political machinations that are involved in this rollout and it's ties to the NBP. Openeir should not be above question. Also just because they promised 300K premises does not mean your broadband future is concrete. Nothing they have announced is binding. There is little point complaining to them directly as they will just refuse to engage with the public.

To be fair I think the main purpose of this thread is to keep up to date on the progress of the rollout based on the info on the blue lines map. It's inevitable that after a couple of weeks of little being reported, updates to the map in recent days that pushed out a lot of dates is absolutely bound to spark debate over Eir's ability to meet their stated targets.

It's not all just moaning. This is a discussion forum.
Where else are we going to talk about it? :P

like any other topic on boards opinions is what makes a topic, everyone has a right to say if they are happy or unhappy about the rollout. The main point of this topic is the rollout, what's involved, what is planned, what is actually happening/where it's happening and if it's uptodate or behind schedule.

With the amount of delays, it's natural that it's gonna upset people. The next 3 months will be crucial to see if things are really making progress and that future dates will be easier to stick to.

I don't expect future dates to be any easier to stick to, but I would expect an overall more accurate estimate after the experience of the first 100k roll out.
eir will have much better actual data on which to base their work plans and estimates, than for the first 100k.

the new estimates I think are working towards that. Most are early/mid 2017 which is minimum a 6 month period, can mean anything up to end of August. I think most of those exchanges can forget about the early part. If there is still less than half of the first 100k still not passed by end of August then this really is gonna take much longer than everyone thought.

The worst thing that happened to this year's rollout plans, was that very little happened for the first 7 months after the March 3rd announcement.

I am sure a lot happened during that period.
Most of it was probably not visible to us, but you can be sure they were working on it ....... it is a huge project and requires equally huge planning and preparation etc..

What I meant by not much happening in first 7 months is the stage we are at now, I was expecting back in June or July. This based on that they planned to have all 100k finished by end of March 2017.

The planning was completed before the announcement of the first 100k back in March, they were probably at least a year planning it before we know about it. I think we also got the open eir blue routes on the map back then?

As legocrazy505 said to keep an eye out for work progressing here are all the areas that avoided the date slip on Monday. I'd assume these areas are more likely to go live sooner than the others. They are all either Winter 2016 or Winter 2016/ Spring 2017 or Winter 2016/17. Kells has a January due date.

I don't recall any statement to that effect from eir.

Most of what I have read posted on boards about this roll out is based on an almost complete lack of information. That lack of information is not at all surprising, as such information is highly commercially sensitive.

I am not defending eir from anything, but equally I know of no facts that show eir should be accused of anything.

I much prefer to wait and see if eir do as they say rather than assume they are going to fail because I do not have information that convinces me they are going to succeed.

I expect eir to do their utmost to have their fibre roll out pass 100,000 premises by end March 2017. Hopefully they succeed.

Shortly after that time I expect to know how many premises were actually passed.

Fair enough. We're at something of an impasse here so let's not clog up the thread any more. For what it's worth I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Just noticed that in my area Cloghan Co.Offaly which is a blue line area in first 300,000 roll out that an exchange has just been added as being planned (CGH1_E01). Wasn't there before. Possible that an exchange for village (eVDSL) and FTTH for outlying areas ? Interestingly when at ploughing in September, Cloghan was listed as the largest area in Offaly without fixed line broadband, 680ish premises.

Might take a spin up that way later this afternoon.

won't be much to see other than the cabinet should be live for those who are connected to it.

I wonder will the homes connected to that cabinet receive FTTH later next year?

sadly the last stretch of wiring on my road hasn't taken place yet, hopefully the lads will be back before the weekend.

There were workmen out installing a cable at manholes on my road today near Athenry.
They werent eir or KN though so maybe it wasnt for the fibre rollout? Is there anyone else installing cable? Siro?
The cable was a black cable though. I'll have to venture out later to see if i can see anything.
EDIT: It was a yellow cable as in image below!

sometimes the lads are in vans not labeled Open Eir, Eir or KNN. Last week a van drove slowly past our house to the end of the road and slowly back again in some Van with a company name we never heard of, turned out it was the KNN lads, or at least someone they hired who we saw in same van an hour later doing ducting work at the bottom of my road.

Thats what the cable looked like. It was protected with a yellow covering.

The cable is now underground. They put it into the eir manhole I think. The only other manhole I have is for Irish water.

Ive seen them around Dunshaughlin as well, the guys I saw last week were from a different company again, can't remember the name tho.

earlier I walked the second spur of the blue line in my area and checked where they wired yesterday. Wiring was complete up to the second last pole before the end of the blue line labeled WP5 END.

This pole had a large coil of fiber and a placeholder for the splitter box. There are 2 premises after this pole on the blue line. I presume the pole for them homes won't be wired up unless they order fiber when the exchange goes live.

just after those 2 homes is another cluster of 10 homes right after where the blue line stops. They are also inside a different exchange area (Ratoath). Looks like these homes will have to wait for the NBP, very unfair, these homes should have been included, only an extra 500 meters.

Both Killarney and Ballyspillane (Killarney) have been updated from''winter 2016/spring 2017'' to ''early/mid 2017''.
This seems to be the norm with most places in Kerry.
