I think I read on a thread here a while back that it's draught only in Ireland, but I'm open to correction on that.

Tis lovely alright. My quest to find it in offie failed. I consoled myself with Spaten.

I genuinely think its the nicest beer ive ever had. Its fair strong though. Thers two Fischers the only good one is the Helles Beer one and that is only sold in kegs not bottles.

Beer Baron on here sells it.

Spaten in Lidl?? Yeah that's a nice one....tell ya, I was tempted to nip back over the pub (Blue Bar, Skerries) for another one or two today .

My favourite beer - is strong alright, more than 3/4 can be dangerous!

    Never seen it bottled unfortunately.

Fischer's Helles is Erdinger's lager and we only ever get it on draught.

The swingtop bottles of Fischer lager are by Heineken's brewery in eastern France and is a very different beer.

fischer helles, which was previously just a stopgap by Erdinger whenever they needed a lager at an event and therefore only available on draught, is now available in bottles in germany.
Ok, doesnt help answer the original question, but that its bottled at all is a prerequisite that you might eventually get it in shops in Ireland !

The Galway Bay pubs all have it, I think.

I am Beer Baron, or I was :D

I worked for Noreast Beers who Import it ONLY in 30l Kegs, left for Rye River Brewing Company who made us all(in sales) Redundant. :(

It is only available in kegs, mainly because it's not an Export product so they don't have any packaging for the bottles. The bottles do exist, in germany of course, but you won't get them here.

I've never tasted that French stuff myself.

How would you describe the taste of this beer?

It's in my local and by far my favourite beer but can never find anything similar elsewhere.

It's a fairly typical helles. Spaten, which you can buy for buttons in Aldi, is very much along the same lines. Beer specialists often stock Augustiner Helles, which is generally regarded as a step up again.
