Why doesn't the US elect their president based on the popular vote? Is it to make the result more of a 'sure thing' and avoid the chaos of having to recount every vote nationally in the event of a close race?

How often do they change the number of electoral college votes a state has? For example, if there was a mass exodus from California to Wyoming (:pac:), when would this be reflected in the number of college votes afforded to each state?

He's dealing with a different audience now though. His decisions reach far beyond a private project.

I don't think that's likely in government. Things would fall apart pretty quickly and it's a profession with a very different mindset.

I didn't think Trump would make a good president because of his experience as CEO of his own companies. When it's his own company and he's own money he can tell people what to do, how and when to do it and if it goes tits up all he loses is some money, and can caulk down the loss to experience.

Now he's going to be dealing with committees, elected people he has no real power over, and most importantly he'll be spending other peoples money. If it goes tits up he's going to be held to account. It's going to be very frustrating for someone used to getting it all their own way.

If there was a demand for parties to right of Fine Gael then they would exist. The fact that any party that has tried to occupy this space has crashed and burned shows there's no massive market for them in Ireland.
