Labour Saving and General Guntering

How about using this thread to show off our engineering skills (or lack of!)
A lot of us have home made or improvised labour saving tools / implements lying around. Similar to stuff in Farmers Journal labour saving compettions. (without the prize money:p).

Maybe we could use this thread to share interesting ideas and discuss improvements.

I don't have any pictures at the moment of my own but I will take some at the weekend if not before.

My own projects include:
Quick hitch for front loader (fairly rough but works), designed to fit Trima implements onto MF loader.
Adapter to fit bale lifter onto front loader.
Various other loader attachments spikes etc.

Current project is a wrapped bale transporter being built out of remains of an old Muck Spreader. (only just started, currently just an axle and draw bar).

Their maybe other stuff around too, I'll have to have a look.

So what are peoples opinions, is this a good idea for a thread?

Believe me there was a lot of Guttering to get threaded bars lined up with wrong size drills bits and the ould fellow asking the odd daft question.

Oul fellas can be a pain. I give a lad a hand doing work from time to time and he times the jobs so that his father is away. He'd wreck your head. Knows it all but wouldn't pick up a hammer for ya. Himself and the son often have full blown arguments while stuck at a job. It goes from guntering to precision engineering when he's around.

No hassle at all.. to be fair the two gates are just two heavy field gates cows don't really go looking for the calves as calves only go back there to lie down..

Did a bit of guntering /weld/fabrication today. Nearly finished Need to fit a Wear plate on bottom weld close the box end and a Coat of paint

A bit of guntering got the holes cut out for me . Marked hole for bushion and cut it with mini grinder and skinny disc . Nicked several cuts around circumference of circle and hit out the piece with a hammer . Tapped bushion through with hammer as holes were a nice snug fit . Welder closed up the cuts from the mini disc

Yeah it's easy to get the good edges with a grinder when you take your time marking out the material and cut carefully

How long did it take you ?

About 2.5 hours to that point . Another half hour will close box section ends and fit wear plate . . Goin to go all the way now and primer and paint it as well . Hope to get back to it tomorrow

At the size of them pix, they're big enough to wallpaper a room....................
