I've been a great Aldi fan since their first store opened in my area about 15 years ago. I don't like the way it's going. For some reason my local store has started opening checkouts in reverse order. If the shop is quiet, they use till 7 near the main door and open tills in reverse order. Till 1 (by the wall with the mirror) hasn't been opened in over a year. The result is queues blocking access to aisles and impeding movement around the shop. One reason I liked Aldi was the fact that you could move around fast and get in and out quickly. The most recent changes are moving veg like cauliflower and cabbage, that shouldn't need display refrigeration, to the refrigerated shelves by the wall and moving mushrooms to replace them in the aisle. Mushrooms are often yellowed now. I've mentioned these points to checkout staff and it's clear that they agree and are unhappy with these and other changes. It's certainly a less pleasant place to shop than it was 2 years ago. Maybe these are local management decisions peculiar to my store.
