Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Irish Rail Staff - Waterford Plunkett

Just want to appreciate the helpful staff at Waterford Railway Station. Have been using trains quite a bit lately and the staff at Waterford are by far the most helpful and professional of anywhere I've been. Also the floral displays for the 1916 commemoration were epic. Big thank you and well done to all involved.

Just want to give credit to a guy called Alex in the hand car wash behind the TOP garage on the Park Road.

I got a puncture and the wheel refused to come off. When he saw I was struggling, he sprayed some solution on the disk to cool/contract it, then gave it a few kicks to get it off. He allowed me the use of his facilities to wash my hands afterwards.

Nice guy, and I'd urge all of you to give him some of your business.

Just wanted to say well done to all involved in getting the GIY Centre built on the Outer Ring Road (near junction with the Dunmore Road). It's a fantastic facility, and hopefully will encourage lots of people to try growing a few veggies in their back gardens.

The café opened on Wednesday & lots of the food on the menu has been grown on the site. It's a lovely, bright space & is only a short walk from WUH. They also plan on running cookery & gardening classes there.

I think it's a great feather in the cap for Waterford, something to be very proud of :)

Interesting old map of the city which shows the course of John's River through town

Not just to the Cliff house but the article gives a big nod to the South east in general for 'staycations' as they put it.

Love to see visitor numbers reflect what we really have to offer rather than the west and the Wild Atlantic Way getting all the plaudits.

Credit to AA Roadwatch, who always include Waterford in their city traffic reports, even if it's moving freely all around. So many organisations only refer to Creedon's cities.

Likewise, hats off to Daft.ie for the same reason.

She is an extremely capable and talented editor. The News and Star has never been as relevant or ground breaking to read as it has under her watch.

Yes he is also good. He can be a bit narrow minded though when it comes to attacking the health service. We all know trolleys, cardiac care etc is needed but he focusses practically his attention and wrath on the Minister, a chap barely out of school who inherited a poisoned chalice of bloated top-heavy management and incompetent procedures. Theres a reason why all the previous ministers couldn't make HSE change, its bigger than just one person.

you d have to wonder if our health service will ever be reformed, its disturbing to watch it slowly deteriorate

Everything I hear about this place and the chap running the show (reynier) looks like shaping up to be some serious high quality product and a major asset to Waterford, hopefully visitor centre won't be to far away once they start selling.
Plus, we'll have the best whiskey and beer in the country.

WCCC is going to take over Mount Congreve. This is good news and the best way that its potential as a tourist attraction can be maximised. It’s an incredible garden and a priceless asset to Waterford.

I thought the food in Bay Tree Bistro was lovely but having read a few reviews of the place on TripAdvisor I was left with am impression that the head chef is an extremely thin skinned chap. The merest HINT of criticism and he replies in a very insulting and childish manner like a teenager throwing a strop-unprofessional to say the least.

Must check place and chefs responses out...my little reading of things like that are generally stupid complaints about the food, the chef knows bit more than most so I'm happy to see him challenge.complaints about time/service a bit different..e.g. hard to argue food not late if you were waitingfor long time.

Waitress in Hook & Ladder took away my half-finished coffee after I had to run suddenly to the toilet with my four-year-old son. When I came back and asked about it, there was no quibble, no argument - just a nice fresh, full latte on its way to my table.

Great customer service... I don't know her name, and can only say that she sounded Eastern European, but that's how you look after customers, even the ones who should try to make it clear that they haven't left! :o

A bit more on this, a deal has been struck through the OPW for 250,000 euro annual funding plus a lump sum of 1.3 million.

Hear hear. I very much appreciate the time and effort taken by the protestors on behalf of the rest of us. I had no option but to work yesterday, and even if I could have taken the day off, I've got to admit it would have been a big effort to get to Dublin and back. So kudos and admiration to every one of them.
