What is going on in our schools?

I live in a very rural part of Ireland as many of you know, the village I live in can have no more than 500 homes in the surrounding area.

This morning I took my Granddaughter to school, its her first year and she is junior Infants. What I witnessed was shocking and upsetting.

The classroom was nicely laid out but everywhere I looked foreign words were displayed all over the walls with pictures of flags and their name in their language. For Ireland the words were wrote in English, no Gaelige anywhere.

I enjoy talking to some of the other parents as I have done in the past when I took one of my grandsons to the school in the past, today was much different. Nearly every mother I spoke too were foreign, I encountered a lot of Eastern Europeans, a few Brazilians, and some English. If I had to put a number on it I would say the majority of the classroom had foreign children with only a small percentage of Irish children.

I waited to speak to the teacher, I wanted to know why Ireland was represented in English and not Gaelige. When she arrived she was welcoming and appeared almost happy someone had finally asked her the question. She told me that because the majority of the classroom could speak very little English they had to use their own languages to welcome them and make them feel at home, English was the 2nd language that all children must learn and so even Irish has to be represented in English. They do still teach Irish as part of the curriculum, but it is only taught at the bare minimum acceptance level as it was no use to the classroom because the majority of the children had been exempted by the school governors and the department of Education.

I asked her why were there so many non Irish children, she replied to me that if I thought this was bad then I should look at the bigger towns and Cities where the problem was far worse.

This is madness, we are losing our cultural heritage and now our children are minorities in their own schools and suffering because of it.

It worries me to see people accept that Ireland is to become a melting pot of cultures especially when you consider that a lot of these cultures would not allow the same thing to happen in their own countries and die fighting to preserve their values.

We will lose our identity if we continue. Our children will grow up listening to other children speaking foreign languages and talking about their homelands while our cultures erodes to facilitate the melting pot. Eventually we will have nothing and Ireland will be a boring island without identity tradition or even its own language. Nothing will unite us together and we will be driven apart by our cultural differences with natural hatred becoming a thing.

And you all let this happen because you're so guilted and brainwashed to believe that somehow immigration of many cultures into your own homeland to a point where your own is diluted is somehow biologically OK.

What kind of a ****, boring and fractured world would we live in without our own tradition. We will be lost. I'll leave it at that as I know some of you don't give a toss. But you will regret it. Your future generations will be lost. Fighting and defending our national/tribal values is what makes us human.

Last time I checked, it wasn't "cultures" coming here, it was people.

The reason I came here was because I don't particularly like the culture I come from.

Sure, let's freeze our culture so that it may never change and on big days, we can take it out of the cupboard, dust it off, have the children gaze at it in silent admiration and then put it back to prevent it coming to any harm.
And send everyone who dares trying to make new culture into exile.

That's an arrogant stance to take toward the culture of your host nation. I never dreamed of taking such a stand when I lived in another Country. I had too much respect for them.

what problems has the uk ? It is specifically with the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities in North england ?

Which wouldnt be that terribly relevant to a situation in Ireland where the majority of foreigners are british or polish, or other EU citizens

If you think its confined to northern England then you're mistaken. White British are now a minority in their capital city. As the OP has pointed out we're following suit with gusto. We'll be just as big a melting barrel as they are before long.

Ireland has a sense of identity, tradition and culture. If you don't like it, fine. But don't try to destroy or dilute it. I believe 100% that the majority (80%+) of people on this island should be white Irish people who share the same traditions, cuisine and for the most part values. I know that this is the case at the moment but I and many others see us becoming minorities in our own lands and were supposed to sit back and accept that Ireland is now for everyone even if they don't respect and learn our ways? Are we supposed to let Ireland become as generic as any other multicultural place? I love cultural diversity when it means that I can fully immerse myself in another culture by travelling to the country of it's people. Not mixing a **** load together and hoping for the best.
