Thought I'd start this thread as haven't found one of the same.

So, 2010.. new decade... new beginnings? With the aim of the League being to get back into Division 1, could Clare also achieve success in Munster this year?

As well as a proposed friendly versus Cork, Ger O'Loughlin has a good load of matches to blood players from U-21's into the senior game. With the opponents in the League not posing a major threat some would argue Clare wont get as much preparation as Div 1 teams, but maybe it will give them an opportunity to focus on their strength and conditioning?

So, Clare face Waterford on Sunday at 2pm in Ballyduff Upper.. I think they should win against this weakened Waterford side, but I think it will be close tbh. But could Waterford topple us in the pre season tournament?

impressive win in the end for KIB , brought back a number of the old gaurd this year and still look like they mean business , they should go very close against dr crokes in quilty next sunday they probably feel they owe them one now at this stage , with a new team in carbury rangers in cork and loughmore/castleeiny beating clonmel this evening in the tipp championship the munster club championship looks fairly open , if kilmurry dont over do the celebrations tonight and the likes of the hickeys ,the o'dwyers and the likes of kealan sexton repeat there performances next sunday they will be there abouts

lets hope the county board see sense in regards times and venues and not clash the county hurling final replay with the munster club championship game , maybe a 1pm throw in for the football in quilty and a 3:30 throw in time in ennis and not clash the two games especially with the extra interest this year in the hurling final in west clare withthe number of parishs sending players to balllyea for hurling

again though today another false attendance was announced , the 3500 was much closer to 5500 or 6000 .......or maybe that's just me , at the same time i wouldnt fancy being in the place on the day they announce a full house of 20000 judging by there counting methods :rolleyes:

county final day for the 3rd week in a row as the first of the replays take place today , any anoraks on here that could tell me has it happened before where both football and hurling finals went to replays in the same year ?

whoever wins will face dr crokes next sunday at a clare venue lets hope it wont clash with the hurling final and the clare county board see sense , it should be a cracker as there was only one point between either side against crokes the last time they met in munster (kib 2012 , cratloe 2013)

today though will be close again , to be fair to kilmurry they were slightly the better team the last day and kealan sexton will be the man to stop again today as he was excellent the last day out, conor mcgraths absence is huge for cratloe and given the amount of wides they kicked the last day it could rove to be a tough ask for the south clare men today

going to stick the head on the block and predict that dr crokes trip will be to quilty next weekend , but it will be close again today

i am not too up to date with the ins and outs of the finances in clare gaa but there had to be a financial outsider funding the fitz era , its probably safe to say that the same fundraiser will not be around to fund gerry and donal :pac:

to be fair to the board the last 4 years have been quiet impressive from our own standards in terms of success , everything has improved from ladies fooball , camogie senior football and football and hurling development , the reason for the sucess is because they stayed out of he way and let what ever managers and coaches off to do there own thing ,

it really only was in the hurling ranks that they didnt act on several mishaps, yes we won an all ireland and a league , but lets face it the donkey work was done by the current management and not fitz

i personally believe the whole nonsense that went on with the likes of "taking out" the internet warriors, attacking journos in the tunnel at half time or the 37 entourag back room staff ,or player discrimination is now wexfords problem , just like passing over a monkeys paw to the model county i actually see a bright future for clare gaa regardless of who is in charge of the finances

to be fair to wexford they never seemed to be too careless in the past with finances , they have gone for two lunatics here that have a common love for money

both are good appointments in the short term , but it will turn into a soap opera in the next two or three years down there and most likely a costly one

Brian Lohan was the only one who came anywhere close to criticising him. And all he did was say that after the disasters of 2014 & 2015 a review was needed. Jamesie was too diplomatic if anything, rarely going beyond an expression of disappointment at our defeats.

It's the usual petulance. His sense of absolute entitlement to the undying loyalty and respect of everyone, no matter what he says or does. My god he really is toxic. It is a huge relief to be free of him.

I get the impression that he's trying to get a siege mentality going where it all of them against all of us, the only problem is he's just coming across as all of them against all of me.

I haven't heard of any ex-players "cut the back off him" in any way, any that are involved in journalism were very fair I thought and any of the rest were just giving their opinion which every other Clare person was giving.

There were funny boundaries at the time. It' was more a North south divide Anyway, Daly is now close to 48-49 so, as said, he couldn't be in it.

Don't forget who his father is, if his father is still in place he'll have no problem getting back in, if he isn't then he doesn't have a hope to get it anyway.

not the best game at times but the last 15 minutes turned into a great contest very exciting finish looking forward to having the option of watching the game back again at some stage tonight or tomorrow

i have felt over the last few years cathal o'connell had been completely over looked by fitz , granted he is not the biggest player in the world but he has been one of the best club players in the county lets hope that changes over the league next season ,

great to see martin o'leary take his goal so well too , he has been through the mill with the last 18 months or so after breaking his collar bone against cratloe in last years 1/4 final he missed out on a good year with the senior footballers run to the all ireland 1/4 finals along with ballyea's run to the final due to complications with the injury

both balllyea and clonlara can be too hit and miss teams , the next day ballyea while very good defensively will need more forwards chipping in with scores today they were over reliant on tony for scores again
fr clonlara they have the fire power but rarely click ,other then tots's hard work and a well taken colm galvin goal they did very little themselves in front of goal , i still have my reservations on them on the big day , but if they can repeat there performance's against kilmaley in the first round or there win over cratloe in the semi it would be hard to see past them although they got little change off the likes of jack browne paul flanagen or gudgie today
