Lv29 with 87/350k for me. A few more lucky egg runs should do it!

It must be a great feeling being on 29 even though getting to 30 will take a bit of time. My biggest gripe is that you only get magic eggs and incubators every 5 levels. From 25 up they should be be given at every level up imho.

Did you guys see the new gym feature that adds new Pokemon sightings to your Pokedex simply by viewing Pokemon in gyms? Niantic have confirmed the new feature on their Twitter.

Essentially, this is what happens; taken from the first link:

When viewing or fighting a Gym, any Pokemon that you encounter will be registered as Seen
It’ll only add 1 Seen to your Pokedex if you haven’t seen one in the wild yet
It is happening since today, so any previous interaction with Gyms doesn’t count
It will add region exclusives as “Seen” in your Pokedex also

Sounds cool. I must add some of my rarer Pokemons to gyms this weekend to help out.

EDIT: Maybe not so great after all. Seems it'll only add the silhouette to the 'dex.

Worst update ever, I hated having a seen and not caught in my pokedex. I've been on the same seen/caught for ages now and that's the way I like it

I picked up on this last night. TBH, I'd prefer if my own seen list consisted of what I have actually seen in the wild.

Hitting lv 30 is decent at least, you get:
3x Incubator,lure,incense & lucky eggs
20x max revive, max potion, ultra ball & razz berry

Given the huge leaps it takes per lv after 30, I think people probably should get better rewards per level, not so sure they'd be warranted from 25-30 thou, given the majority of player base that's still playing is already in that area now and they want this game to last a long time, and ofc to get people buying coins..

Agreed. The mismatch bugs the hell out of me. How am I supposed to now fill in for the Snorlax (never seen or hatched one) or Charizad (I don't even have a Charmander!) that I see constantly in gyms. Do I just avoid gyms altogether? Idiotic move.
Spiteful me might just put my Chanceys in gyms if this happens or a Porygon.

100% concur. This update does nothing to help the player.
What benefit is it to us? Afterall we already know the pokemon that we are missing

I don't like this new feature as I think it annoys far more players than it could ever make happy. Who asked for this feature?!

I'll be staying clear of gyms with Dragonite in them for a bit. My spiteful side came out this morning, stuck Charizard in a gym. I'll definitely be putting something like Porygon, Lickitung or Dragonair in the next gym I see

What on earth is the logic for Niantic here? If the sites were competing against their own version then I could understand. There's nothing though and they're just screwing over their own customers because they're failing to give any alternative. Why Niantic, why take down a site that was encouraging people to play your game?!

I believe their reasoning is that with these 3rd party services, they won't be able to provide their own tracking that consistently works; which makes sense. I mean, how could they release a new tracker when there are still 3rd parties impacting on the service they're trying to provide?

Scanners put unnecessary load on Niantic's servers so it is completely understandable why they would try to close them down. More importantly though they are trying to prevent cheaters and bots. The same exploits used by scanners are used by cheaters and bots. So again it is completely understandable why they try to close off these access methods.

Easy. Walk around, go to places where you've heard certain Pokemon are. I've been playing without the use of trackers for months, relying on word of mouth, and I'm doing alright.

Ive been playing since launch day. Am doing just fine without using a scanner. Just hit level 26.

Had a nearby pokemon app my phone for about 2 weeks but it wasnt great, was better to just keep Pokemon Go open on my phone.

The more you walk around the more you learn the spawn points aswell, I can be somewhere local, something good shows up nearby and I know the two or three spots within range it could be at. All that from a lot of walking .
The current tracker isn't totally useless but you need to come across a spawn with a good chunk of time left on it.

Last time I checked my Pokedex I had 120 caught, 121 seen (a Kabutops that ran away on me). Didn't check it for a couple of days, and then when I go in today it's 125 seen, and shadows of Raichu, Arcanine, Dragonite and Snorlax have appeared! What could have happened? I've never seen any of those in the wild!

Who has time to walk around for hours on end in the hope of catching anything not a Pidgee? That works fine in Paris but not in a smaller town with no variety on the streets.
Are there people still playing in small towns in Ireland without a tracker?

@kyomi as of today they count stuff in the gym as seen for some reason.

I miss that fastpokemaps site. It was dead handy around my way. There are loads of little cul de sacs and stuff, so things can show up nearby in game that you physically can't reach in time. Like our houses back onto another set of houses whos entrance is a long way around from us. It was handy to let me know ah that jigglypuff or whatever is over the way, don't even bother. Also less of a battery drain if you are stuck in one place and just want to keep an eye on the area and just open the app when something good shows up. If it was such a game breaking cheat youd think I'd at least have a dragonite by now.

Had a great evening on East Pier in Dun Laogaire! Caught about 15 magikarps, all low CP ones that only took one regular ball to catch, so now I'm up to about 130 candies. Also caught a whole pile of poliwags, one poliwhirl, and one poliwrath! My little boy nearly lost it when I got the poliwrath, we've had a poliwhirl as our buddy for weeks. There were a fair few tentacools too, and also caught 5 psyducks, which gave me enough to evolve a golduck. Popped a lucky egg when we got home and evolved as much as we could, so got about 10k xp.

Oh and I suppose I should mention that the harbour was like a millpond, and the sunset was really beautiful :pac:

Thanks rustedjimmies, just read the previous page and it explains everything! Can't say I like that update, I don't like having Seen ones in the dex that I didn't have a chance to catch!
