I've had a search through GAA records. I've had a busy week but proof and figures as requested will be forthcoming shortly. Hopefully then we can have a reasoned and civil debate on the financial issue that just won't go away.

It shouldn't be that hard to be honest. There was a ridiculous thread on this "financial doping" a while back and I found a rake of sources for the antagonist in that case.

You're wasting your time. You have been on boards a matter of days. You have no track record of having reasoned debates on matches, players, games, referees, all the normal things a normal GAA fan would be expected to want to talk about on a GAA forum. On virtually your first day here, you were right into the Dublin thread, looking to stir up controversy. It's a tad suspicious. So I'd imagine most of the regular posters* on here, are just going to ignore you. As we do most of the $hit stirrers who crawl out of the woodwork in the week of an All Ireand final, but won't be heard from again for the rest of the year and, won't be within an arses roar of an actual game come January.

They were ridiculous because the OP was a bit slow on the uptake and that no matter how many times he was given links to info he ignored it.

But as I say there's a thread there for this sort of chat and I'm sure we'll be more than happy to engage.

I noticed you said something similar over in the County Pop thread and I thought it was curious cos I don't recall anyone suggesting the cash has no affect. But to see it repeated here it smells like a straw man argument that you're now trying to set up.

If the cash had no effect it would be a rather wretched waste of precious resources wouldn't it? And anyone to deny that he money had no effect would be living in cloud cuckoo land. But that's not part of the argument.

The issue here is that you think Dublin gets too much funding and while there's merit to that statement you haven't really convinced us with evidence that that is the case now have you?

Let's engage in the rightful thread though shall we. Perhaps you'll get your answers in this thread too.

Maybe boards should bring in a "black card" just for the GAA section for when a thread is getting intentionally dragged down.... so then they could be replaced by another poster.

Well, I have a general rule....if a poster only joined boards in the past month and/or they have less than 100 posts, they are getting ignored, until they prove their worth as a genuine contributor, especially when it's the business end of the season. The week of an All Ireland final is a bit like Christmas Eve on Henry St. It's all wee bit mental. All the nutjobs and demented last minute shoppers are out, you can't find any pink tinsel in Dealz and, you just want to tell the Cheeky Charlie sellers to fcuk off. Saw the first display of the Christmas biscuit tins, piled to the roof in Tesco yesterday. Made me fierce phisosophical ! :rolleyes:

Was at clontarf v Jude's and boden v k crimes. If the clontarf match was judged on the warm up they would have won. They had all sorts of intricate drills. But yet when the game started they only managed to score their first from play after 50mins. They kept playing the ball sideways and backwards slowly. They need to figure out how to use use jack mc he is wasted in the backs.

Boden v crokes was a great game Vaughan was man of the match I would say. He nailed all sorts of frees from range and got one class one from play.

Should 'Boden not have had a penalty, when the Crokes keeper went walkabout and, their fullback had to make a save in the goal mouth? Coulda sworn he touched the ball on the ground, or did he block the shot with his body?

Clontarf were shocking. Didn't realize Jack Flash was even on the pitch, until about 5 minutes from the final whistle. :rolleyes:

Was at Castleknock vs Syls yesterday. Enjoyable game. Syls have a great midfield in Gary Sweeney, and this giant with a black beard, who caught every ball sent his way. Sweeney has a fair bit of pace and cut through on a couple of occasions. Syls missed two pens (or more to the point our keeper saved them).

Great win for Castleknock. Two years ago we beat the Syls Intermediate team on our way to winning the Intermediate Championship. Delighted!

Thing is though, the surprise factor is gone now. That is what won us the All Ireland. Next year, every single intercounty manager is going to have the "How To Stop Cormac Costello" chapter at the front of their playbook. Doing it from the get go, with their expecting and anticipating your every move, is another thing entirely. As Kev Mc has spent the past 5 years finding out, after his 2011 heroics. Plus, with the prospect of Berno spending more time on the bench, he may have to get used to the other sides best defender breathing down his neck for an entire game. Then there is his size. Physically, he is still very slight. You'd never want to see him bulk up, to the degree that it impacts his pace, but you don't want to see him get bullied off the ball either.

I think next year, we won't see a settled full forward line. Apart from Deano, it'll be a committee of Kev Mc, Berno, Cormac, Mannion, Andrews, O'Callaghan and O'Gara,with McHugh and McDaid getting the odd look in too. Keep us guessing, as well as the oppostion. Nice problem to have all the same...

... and of course not forgetting that 2/3 years prior to that ya won the Junior Champo, it's a great tribute to the club to have come so far. I've seen whats coming behind in the juvenile set up (didn't they win the national féile this year?) and there's every likelihood the conveyor belt will continue .. onwards and upwards

I think the 2nd midfielder for Syls may have been Ross Hayzley ? .. giant of a man, and when things were looking bleak around the middle a few years ago he'd been mentioned in dispatches for a Dublin call up .. saw him a few times, most notably in the Champo against Maurs the year before and completely dominated the middle

Yeah that's true - once other counties have you mapped the game becomes a different proposition.

I'd like to think that the league next year will just be a development opportunity for some of the younger lads - we need to have an eye on the next couple of years or get caught out with wholesale changes or lads past their prime being retained for lack of alternatives - the likes of Scully, Cillian O'Gara, Concarr etc are good prospects too

In an ideal world we should start the League with development in mind but still aim to win it. The loss to Cork in 2011 was a catalyst for the championship season after the narrow loss in the AISF in 2010.

They certainly did win the Feile. We had our medal presentation to those lads at the weekend. A talented bunch.

It was him or O'Gara and O' Gara could have done some damage too.

Gavin is brilliant at that though himself. O Sullivan on Barry Moran being a great example, but the final against kerry last year was better for it as they had an array of options off the bench

In this regard Darren Daly is a bit of an unsung hero. He has regularly come on in big games to pick up some big names, really important jobs for 15 or 20 minutes in finals without much if a look in apart from that .

I'd go as far as to say that I've never really had a good look at Daly outside of the O'Byrne cup, but he's an important part of the squad.

Any word on Bastic ? He could be the new Dave Foran if Kildare improve

I honestly don't know. The victors get to write the history books. If we hadn't won, the decision to throw on a lad that has scored eff all in the championship and has eff all big game performances to his name, would be seriously questioned. My gut feeling is that Gavin was as surprised by how well Costello got on, as the rest of us. But watching replays of his scores & how well he and MDMA worked off each other, there is a bang of the training ground off it all. I suppose we'll never know. Gavin is hardly going to admit that it was all preplanned, or that he was $hitting it and he threw CC into the fray, on a wing and a prayer.

+1 on Daly. For someone who seems to be always nailed on for a 10-15 minute appearance in All Ireland semi finals and finals, its amazing how little we see of him, early in the year. Sometimes, I don't even know if he is still on the panel, until I hear his name being called out in late Aug/early Sep and I think to meself, Well thanks be to Christ he still is ! :rolleyes:

How did CK play for Castleknock or was he playing? I was hoping to get down to see this game but unfortunately family had other plans.

I am hoping that the Management use the O'byrne cup and League to develop the squad. I think it would be a worthy sacrifice if at the end of the league we have another goalkeeper, midfielder or 2 to call on and more options coming off the bench. It would be also nice to give some of the lads that have been going year in year out a break like Flynn, Brogan, Cluxton to name but a few.

I mostly agree. I just think that completely abandoning a chance to win the league wouldn't be the most prudent way to go about it.

I've said it in previous posts that I don't want to see Paul Flynn in a Dublin shirt til June. Same goes for Cluxton and Brogan.
