Mouse under my bed

I keep hearing rustling noises under my bed, usually very late at night if I wake up. It sounds a lot like a mouse. I've only lived in my current house about a month and I don't leave food lying around. I'm very squeamish so not looking forward to handling this.

Any tips on how to get rid of my friend (if it is a mouse) without the use of mouse traps or anything that would involve having to look at a dead rodent?!

OP; If that's a tea bag? I'm not liking this. What sort of mouse can make the leap from ye floor, onto ye bed, carrying a tea bag?

And the guys who came out? What evidence did they discover? They mention anything to ye? Some baits come in the form of what looks very much like a tea bag. But, it's normally brightly coloured, even inside the bag. Blue or red.

Bugger! I was about to say 'Sod this. If it's still going on by Monday, I'd send ye a couple of traps.' Then I realised; I don't have any spare keys

I don't s'pose. for a moment, ye have access to an ultra violet light? Shop keepers used to have them, for checking paper money.

I hate trying to do this sort of thing over the computer. If this was on a PlayStation, I'd jump in a chopper. Rappel down a rope and sort you out in no time! Only, at my stage in the game? I'd probably do my back in!

Looks more like hash to me, which means the problem is the worse than we thought because I know from personal experience that getting a stoner to leave a bedroom is pretty tough, but like most stoners, he will evolve and become more daring.

You'll come home one day to see him watching cartoons on the couch, laughing his hole off when Jerry gives Tom a belt of a frying pan. You'll both look one another in the eye and you'll both know who the real boss is now.

What's worse is you could have nipped this in the bud by taking care of the problem at the beginning, back when he would put his life in danger for a bit of Dubliner - back when he was a mouse. Imagine trying to bribe one of the boyos from Planet of the Apes with a banana.

The mouse, like that dirty ape, is just not that animal anymore. You created something of a vermin Frankenstein here, and now it's too late. Let this be a lesson to everybody else.

Teabags on your bed? Sounds like you have ghost, not a mouse. That's classic ghost behaviour. I'm not sure if that makes you feel better or worse.

Peanut butter is the best thing to put in the trap. It's sticky, so they'll have to put the weight on it and that'll get them.

Be prepared for it being a rat though. We had one in out last rented property, and the trap didn't come close to killing him, just immobilizing him. He was absolutely huge. Had to finish him off with a shovel - which wasn't the nicest thing I've had to do.

Have your gloves, plastic bags, various tools of death to hand. You don't want to be wondering where these things are when a rat is trying to escape a trap in the middle of the night..

Hi, there's a type of poison you can use that makes them experience extreme thirst before they die which forces them to leave your house in search of water, they then die before getting back in.

At least that's what a pest control employee told me recently, might work for you if you don't want to deal with a dead mouse!

edit: seems it might be a rat... no idea if same product works on them or has same effect, but a neighbour had a rat years ago and bought this bear trap thing apparently designed for rats. It worked but the rat was nearly cut in two and a bit of a mess to clean up.

Found mouse sh1t in my bird room, yesterday. And so it begins, once more, in earnest. The buggers.

Picked up a nice, big female, today. The body count will likely now rise on an almost daily basis.

These are House Mice. I don't mind wiping them out. Always a little sad to find I've whacked a Wood Mouse though. Endearing little things that come in more to get warm and play, rather than get at ye food.

Oh well; Lock and load, gentlemen. It's started .....

Yep. Had that happen at work years ago. Horrible smell in the kitchen there. All food removed and fridge cleaned several times with no joy. Dead mouse down behind the sink. And Jesus did it smell.:eek:

Had one in the kitchen, when I checked at midnight. Can't go into the bird room till tomorrow.

I need to get more traps down. Ye can't really have too many. Trap with a dead mouse in it won't catch another mouse. And, once the buggers start .....

Mm. Just took something out there. Got another one. F**k this. I've brought in another trap, from my work room. They're not active in there yet so a better division of resources.

Lexie; What ye need to know about mice is that they're usually active within an hour or two of the light going out.

So, when ye go to bed? Just lay very, very still and quiet, for an hour or two. Listen intently .......... Can ye hear them beginning to scuttle about in the dark? Scratching, squeaking and gnawing ..... What was that?!

I read on Facebook that some place in Asia are serving live baby mice as like appetisers. I rang my local hardware shop to see what kind of poison you can put down so they'll leave but he was saying there's no guarantee that they'll leave and that in theory they're supposed to run out to look for water but doesn't always happen and you're better off with traps. He was telling me there's a new kind of trap that you just turn a dial to set it and when you catch it, you can't see the mouse. It just changes colour. You can get plug ins that are supposed to be a very good deterrent but won't do much to get rid if they're in.
I'm very worried they're in my house though I have yet to hear them, so I'm going to go get those invisible mousetraps and some plug in things.

I've caught 2 meece in the last few days under the sink.
There's at least one more though and this little beggar has learnt how to get the peanut butter off the trap without setting it off.
I opened the door earlier on and there it was nibbling away happily.
