Official Conor McGregor thread (part 2). Read warning in 1st post

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 2.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.
Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.
If you have an issue with a post, please use the report post function. Any off topic posts will be deleted.
Any "Do you even train Bro?" or "I'm an mma fan longer than you" type posts are not permitted either. They only make you look like a fool and as a result, everyone hates you. Yes everyone.

By the way I love Conor and I am a massive fan. I am trying to be non biased here and see how I would see it if in this situation it was a different fighter than Conor. Conor is great and has worked for everything he has got but after the Diaz fight he should have fought Aldo then moved up and fight Alvarez. He can make 145 he says and he should be able to beat Aldo, so just move down beat him and give up the 145 belt if he doesn't want to do the weight cut anymore.

I would be absolutely shocked if Conor retires or takes time out. He lives and sleeps the fight game. The people in his life need to accept that life at the pinnacle of any sport means you have to live it. Look at McIlroy, Hamilton etc. They travel the world nearly full time. It's worth it.

In terms of the nonsense talk about Conor's legacy. His legacy is cemented into MMA history. He brought MMA to a whole different level. The hardcore fans may be bitter that their niche sport is no longer niche, but F that.

In 10/20/30 years time people will watch YouTube videos of "McGregor's best moments" the same way we watch videos of Tyson, Ali, Senna et al. I truly believe his name will be synonymous with MMA. That's some legacy.

While this may be logically true, it doesn't take into account the human element of life. Life isn't black and life like that. I don't doubt the dedication of Rory/Hamilton, but it's absolutely not the same as someone putting their health on the line every night they perform.

Conor has done an amazing job. I will not begrudge him if he takes a break, even though I would be disappointed.

Sumthing huge and left field after the fight could be getting down on one knee to ask Dee to marry him.

It could be fcuk all and a good stunt to get everyone talking about him and the fight. Sell ppv with people buying to see possibly his last fight. I don't think he is going anywhere.

Love to see him fight Aldo and the longer it goes more intrest in the fight builds selling more ppv.

I accept your point about him puttin his health on the line. Maybe Rory Mc doesn't do this but Hamilton does. One lapse of concentration for a few milliseconds could cause some serious pain in an F1 car.

Anyway it's not the direction the topic should go, comparing sports re danger. But I do accept that it takes some serious balls to step into an octagon. I rate MMA fighters as some of the most well rounded athletes in the world. Technical skill, strength, mental courage. All have to be at a high level.

Re life not being black and white. Maybe one needs to be less human when they are a top athlete. If a partner can't accept it they should leave. Their legacy is more important than you feeling loved.

Anyway I'm talking sh1te at this hour. McGregor is a legend and I fcuking love seeing him in and out of the octagon.

Aldo had 2 chances one which he pulled out of.

He won 1 fight after been knocked out and suddenly deserves this rematch all a sudden.

Holloway should be in with a shout.

I'd understand your point except Aldo is the interim champ so unless his next fight is vs McGregor then surely Conor will have to give up the belt.

I'd take this with a massive pinch of salt but what I heard is him and John kavanagh will be setting up a promotion of their own so he will be taking some time out. I don't see how that is considered personal but I'll put it out here anyway.

Even with a name like Conor McGregor's attached to it, thats a sure-fire way to lose a tonne of money.

The amount of promotions that are literally ''one and done'' after a single show is staggering. Even popular and well established promotions like BAMMA and Cage Warriors aren't massively profitable from what I have heard.

You'd have to wonder though does his contract preclude him him from getting involved in such ventures. Is it a standard clause?

I'm confident that Conor McGregor the individual would be barred from something like that but what about a plc or even a privately owned company that he was a director of?

If he wanted to do something like this, it would probably be quite easy to find away around it any contract restrictions. There's nothing to stop him investing in a company that would then later on purchase a stake in or set up a new promotion.

Would be idiocy either way with CW and BAMMA being the regional powers and both already having links to the world powers in terms of MMA. CW having a link to the UFC now the same way Titan and Legacy do in the US and BAMMA having a direct link to Bellator and an indirect link to Rizin.

Because was one of the greatest champions of all time and the only feather weight champ until he lost and went 10 years undefeated, lost the fight in a 13 second flash knockout..... He should have got an instant rematch, considering all the other champions that get instant rematches. He didn't get the instant rematch (unfortunately) but he has now beat Frankie Edgar and is the interm champ, he 1000000% deserves his rematch.

Where's the fun in that. you loose your Belt but can have a shot straightaway to get it back.

Seems pretty boring seeing the Same fight so soon.

I think it's a different thing entirely when your beaten and when you Knocked TFO - Aldo couldnt have taken a rmatch and conor had fought by the time he was back so things moved on a bit - I dont doubt aldo deserves his shot but the timing was / is wrong.

Same with rousey - she got kilt' and hasnt been right since, you cant expect the division to stop while you recover!

No the division stopped coz Conor had three consecutive fights outside 145. Nothing to do with Aldo recovering.
