6 players were disqualified. That's a pretty high number. Can't find the reasons for them though

3rd and final round tomorrow, Dunne the only from the island to make it. Harrington had lots of birdie chances to make it but none converted.

As far as I can gather, Els and some others were due back yesterday morning to finish off one or two holes of the 2nd round. They had no chance of making the cut so just went home on Friday night.

Anyone think relief from grandstands and line of sight rule should be changed? If you hit a sh*t shot... you should be punished. Play as it lies or replay the shot under penalty.

It's make it or break it week on the European Tour.
Interesting the top 111 qualify. I'm not sure what the craic with Lingmerth is, anyone know?
From an Irish point of view only Harrington and Dunne close to the mark in 97th & 102nd respectively. Clarke in 168th. Doesn't matter though for Clarke & Harrington as they are both in Category 1. Dunne looks safe enough , but would be nice if he could make a few bob his week and move up a few places... it could be the difference between getting into some tournaments next year and sitting on the sidelines looking in.

The 110 cards are reserved for full members of the tour while Lingmerth is only an affiliate member. However finishing in the top 110 also earns him a card for next season if he takes up full membership

My understanding of affiliate membership is that he has no european tour eligibility for events this season but he can still get into tournaments through invites and his high world ranking.

so he could take his place/card and therefore it would only by 110 places and 111th wont get in after all?

No, effectively there would be 111 cards handed out and he keeps his ranking (currently 62nd). i.e. he would have higher chance of getting into events than the likes of Paul Dunne

he's free to make his own decisions on what he does with his time and luckily enough for him, he doesn't have to answer to you or any other keyboard warriors

Funny that you of all people mention keyboard warriors. And yes, since this is a forum which embraces all opinions on golf, my opinion is that he should have been in Portugal.

It is surprising hes not playing Portugal as hes sliding a bit in the OWGR.
But hey who are we to question someones schedule, he does have a hectic run up to xmas and some huge events so thats likely where the focus lies.
