TB testing

Must check the statement, my inconclusive went to the factory today, glands will be cultured and should know in 8 weeks if I am clear or not. Three options with an inconclusive,
Retest that animal after 60 days,
Send to factory and retest herd after 60 days,
Send to factory and get glands cultured which takes about 8 weeks.
If already restricted and there have been a lot of cases or if you have had a few go down in previous tests sometimes the department may upgrade an inconclusive to a reactor depending on reading, according to vet anyway

I'm just paranoid the bottom lump has nearly disappeared. Think my eyes are playing tricks on me cos the more I looked at it last night the bigger it was. Anyways will find out tomorrow.

Just after reading my stock just now. 6 month follow up check. All passed. A few dairy lads have a share of inconclusive animals in the area. Hopefully i won't have to test again for 12months.

Think so. Was told by the dept vet there, that there was no need to send anything off to the lab so she must have been completely clear.
Relieved in one way but am still locked up which is a bit annoying.
Might only need one test though, which will be mid november. Mid january if i still need two tests.

Probably but they'll do a culture test on her glands which will confirm or deny in a few weeks
I'd love to see the stats on what percentage of reactors in factories turn out to actually have it

Ahh no. How soon do the lumps show up? Only had the test at 2.30 yesterday

Bottom is the one that matters, if there are 2 and the top one is bigger your ok.

Ring your local abattoir first thing in the morning. They will tell you if it can be done.
Its ridicolous having perfectly good animals being shot.

She is walking but leg can't be fixed... Either way she will be shot in the morning but if I taught I could freeze her I would

Could be wrong but have to do it within 24 hours. Not sure if your vet has to see her. Its moving her is considered the problem. Animal in pain, suffering etc.

One of my weanlings broke a leg this evening.....she was born after my tb test do I need a permit to have her killed for the freezer in the morning or do I have to bring her to the knackery

Every herd in the outbreak here was Dept tested at least once, either the first test or second after the reactors had gone and some contiguous herds were Dept tested too.

And it looks like I avoided a herd test charge this year, 2 Dept tests clear and next herd test due in January:)

I thought your vet did the test and you pay for one clear test per year unless you request additional private tests.

Doesn't have to be dept vet. Sometimes they may do one herd in an area

You pay for one test during the year, same as annual test. Anything else they are making you test so they pay
