Hangover free alcohol could replace regular alcohol by 2050

What does AH think? Sounds good to me, hangovers are a killer, especially as you get older. Would you give up your pint of Guinness or glass of wine for this stuff? I think I'd miss it tbh. All those years of positive reinforcement mean I quite enjoy the taste at this stage

A new type of synthetic alcohol has been discovered which could allow people to enjoy the sociable effects of a few pints, but skip the hangover that usually follows.

The new drink, known as 'alcosynth', is designed to mimic the positive effects of alcohol but doesn’t cause a dry mouth, nausea and a throbbing head, according to its creator Professor David Nutt.

The Imperial College Professor and former government drugs advisor told The Independent he has patented around 90 different alcosynth compounds.

Two of them are now being rigorously tested for widespread use, he said – and by 2050, he hopes alcosynth could completely replace normal alcohol.

I'll be long dead by that time. Sure I remember back in the early 80's scientists said we would have advanced to a stage that we will be living on mars in the year 2010 and would be travelling the solar system for our holidays, we're nowhere near that even today.

There is a part of outer space that has gas clouds made entirely of alcohol scientists say, but it would take too long to get there because it is many light-years away, space is full of natural alcohol but too far away. Maybe when I'm dead in the after-life I will reach it as a light being, slurp.

Hangovers / beer sickness are the only reason I'm not an alcoholic so I'll keep the hangovers tbh.

Apparently this stuff doesn't damage the liver or other organs either. Would the lack of negative consequences health wise lead to more people becoming alcoholics I wonder ?

But I will still give it a miss, as for me it wasn't just the hangovers it was the complete ****ing gob****e that I was when I did drink alcohol,For me hangovers were only a small part of the problem, cheers :pac:

2000 and fckin 50? Seeing as theres testing being done on this apparently then Id hope humanity is advanced enough to pop this out on the line before 30 years time..god talk about reaching for the stars..I think we'll have a lot more exciting things around by then than hangover free beer
