If you could banish one thing forever what would it be? I'd banish reality TV. There's too many of them and they're taking the place of educational programming. TV stations that used to be about historical events are seemingly taken up by this nonsensical rubbish.

What TV stations are you referring to?

I don't think the likes of the BBC, ITV or Channel 4 are that bad for reality TV these days. The majority of that stuff has shifted to various satellite channels that we never had years ago. There's a lot of talent shows, etc. but they've simply replaced the family game-shows and light entertainment of previous generations. Cookery shows and home-improvment stuff isn't really reality TV as such and have been a constant presence as long as I can remember. The X Factor has replaced ITV's Sunday night drama slots, which is a loss, but the BBC still lead with their dramatic productions every weekend.

My main channels are the Beeb (especially Two & Four), Sky Arts, Sky Atlantic, a bit of RTE and some occasional Channel 4 docs. Plus there's always interesting bits and pieces scattered about. All of it good, worthwhile TV. Too much for me, actually. I usually end up deleting loads of it.

If you can't find a couple of hours of interesting TV each day then you're probably not casting your net wide enough, and if you're not happy with 2-3 hours each day then you're watching way too much.
