Today I did some detailing...

We have the "Today I Did Something To My Car" thread out in the main forum, and a lot of the posts on it pertain to detailing.
I thought it would be a good idea to give our various detailing activities a thread in their proper home.

I'll get the ball rolling.

Today ( ahem, last night really!), I snow foamed the car
Wasn't able to follow through and wash it properly as my back went, but couldn't believe how well it looked this morning!
In fairness I have a fair bit of LSP on it, but there was ten days worth of road film and tree sap on it.

Well impressed.

Yeah I have it waiting to go, C4, headlights, chrome trim need a serious sanding and polishing and the glass needs a deep clean too.

Cheers! The interior is bad ish but nothing a clean can't sort, small bits of mould, small bit dirty leather and just dirty plastics all around really.

Just looked up to see what C4 is after reading above post , £23!!!!, it cant be worth that ? why is everything to do with car detailing so bloody expensive !
anything good but cheaper to bring back black exterior car trim ?

Believe me it's worth it, last two to three years and properly brings it back to factory black, others are only a temporary fix!

Say for example, 12 quid for a temporary fix that has to be applied every few washes or 23 quid for a semi-permanent fix. The time saved in re-application alone, would be worth many times the difference.

There are plenty of other things you can use to revive the look temporarily...peanut butter for example.

As said cheap stuff will need reapplying every week and most likely need 5+ bottles in time the ceramic coat wear's off.

You'll be surprised how little you need. As with all Gtechniq products, a little goes a long way.

Just gave the lance a quick go. Didnt do anything after that as it started raining

You know, it took me a while to see the logic of this. Now I'm replacing some of the fixes with the permanent cures when the bottles run out.

Today I came across something strange on rear bumper of my MK7 while was cleaning it. It looks like three dents but they were pushed from inside....

I really can't figure it out how it happened.

Maybe something pushed on bumper and the supporting stuff behind has caused it. Different though.

Gave the car a usual 2BM today but used a new drying towel! I have a dry me crazy and liked it but if I wanted to dry off a few cars in the same day it got annoying to wring out after every panel. The new twisted pile drying towel is very impressive and a lot lighter than the dry me crazy. Worth a look of you're looking for something different

I went over to waxstock in July and bought one from the bouncers stand and got another off a guy on Instagram (not sure if I can say his name but it was £13.80 + €3 delivered through parcel motel) the one from bouncers was £10 but that was show prices not sure how much they usually are

The products on offer were amazing and the cars on show inside were on another level (don't have enough posts to post photos of it) I seen one of the judges shining a light inside a hole under the bonnet to check for dirt :-) it's like Mecca for detailers really. Only mistake I made was flying over with no checked luggage (I'll be driving next time) and also being a student I only had a few hundred quid saved, you could easily spend thousands and you're still getting a bargain on almost everything! I think fusso was the only thing I paid normal prices for. All in all definitely worth a trip as its only getting bigger and better.

I checked in a bag on the return flight. I knew going over I would buy stuff. Pricing was very good and great talking to suppliers. The level of detail was unreal.

Ahh smart thinking! :-) what did you grab? Did you see the little red/black Saxo? Think that was my favourite. I was amazed that the cars had no wax or glaze on them!

Nice quicky today with the DA and some Pentawax

Tried my hand at this detailing lark earlier. This was on a 1999 Jaguar S Type bootlid. Colour reminds me of my 166 alright!

I was impressed with the results achieved. The paintwork is in a bad way, very dull and swirled/scratched.

Also experimented on the wing of an Alfa 159 which was in even worse condition! A number of stone chips detracted from the finish but an improvement!
