Official Conor McGregor thread (part 2). Read warning in 1st post

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 2.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.
Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.
If you have an issue with a post, please use the report post function. Any off topic posts will be deleted.
Any "Do you even train Bro?" or "I'm an mma fan longer than you" type posts are not permitted either. They only make you look like a fool and as a result, everyone hates you. Yes everyone.

That's the huge cherry for Conor, I would suspect he is well aware that Eddie represents a very good opportunity to win the belt, and is afraid he won't have it very long. (He won't.)

I strongly suspect Conor believes he can/would beat any of them at LW. He has insane confidence and i highly doubt he looks at potential matchups that way. His manager and the UFC might look at them that way, but i think Conor and Kavanagh have ridiculous self-belief. I genuinely feel they would gladly fight whoever has the belt.

Granted, Alvarez is a favourable match-up. I'd fancy him to walk through Eddie. Hopefully setting up a Cerrone bout for the title defence.

It's only been 9 months since he won the belt. Aldo defended the belt 3 times in 3 years.

The division was going nowhere until Conor showed up.

If he is forced to vacate, which i feel the UFC will do to show who is boss, then it'll be Aldo v Max and if Aldo wins the division is buried again. There's nobody out there for Aldo beyond Max.

If Conor gets on NY card, and beats Eddie, then let him take a photo with the 2 belts on his shoulders and call a presser the following week stripping him of the 145 strap. Just let him create the bit of history then plough forward with Jose v Max.

All hypothetical. Aldo fights orthodox, much easier for Nate to counter his inside leg kicks with a straight left than it is vs another southpaw. Would have a massive reach and size advantage.

I actually don't think any of the featherweights could if they went up against the version of him from the Diaz fight; It wouldn't make it past round 2. He was a lot more calculating in that fight, picked his shots, landed some beautiful counters.

not to sound cliché but I agree, he actually evolved in that fight. He's actually more dangerous now I think and there are fighters that know it too. If he sat back and picked his shots, countered or lightly stalked aldo, he'd bounce em!

What do you make of Doo Ho Choi, i thought he looked very good the past few times I watched him especially the last fight against Tavares at fight night before 200. looked really relaxed. i think he could potentially climb the rankings for a title shot in the next 24 months

Going to be tough for Conor from here on in Alvarez, Aldo, RDA, Khabib are all winnable fights for him but also very losable. He beat Nate by Majority decision who is a gatekeeper at lightweight, it was an amazing fight but who he fights next is going to be interesting.

Nate's also a lot more durable than those four put together.
That was one of the main factors of both fights, him and his brother can take ridiculous amounts of punishment and keep coming forward.

I think that may have hit Conor mentally in the second round of the first fight as well, he hit him with everything and he still kept coming.

For so long I would have agreed with you 100% about Aldo, but man after seeing how much punishment and hardship McGregor can endure and also dish out, it really is hard for me to imagine any FW, even Aldo, being able to take his belt.

Number 1 contender in a division where he is champ. So he either vacates or fights Aldo. As an aside no matter what Conor does there will always be people who aren't satisfied. If Conor KOs aldo again there will be some excuse given by the haters.

He needs to defend the belt or drop it by end of year. I understand he would like to hold two belts and that aldo used to only defend it once a year or so. But he really can't go past Dec while still sitting on the belt. UFC playing a dangerous game letting the belts seem unimportant.

For all Conor has done for the UFC, I feel they should cut him one final bit of slack and give him a crack at Eddie, just so he has a chance of a photo of him holding two belts...which is what he wants very much. After that though, it's **** or get off the pot time. McGregor Aldo 2 will definitely happen, it's just a case of when.

There's three fights at featherweight I'd like to see McGregor fight, two being rematches

- Aldo (Interim Champ)
- Holloway (9 fight win streak since losing to McGregor)
- Frankie (top contender but is out of the title picture so is unlikely to happen. I've a feeling he'll end up at BW soon enough, can't beat Aldo and is a few wins away from another title shot at FW, maybe more if Aldo is champ. One good win at BW and he'll get that shot)

If they do the McGregor/Alvarez fight would they do Aldo/Holloway in the mean time?
This allows them to build the LW title fight as Champion vs Champion. Obviously the longer he doesn't defend his belt the more ridiculous the FW situation gets.

I could be proven very wrong tomorrow but i have a feeling there's something seriously wrong with Pettis. Probably mentally. His last fight he looked scared.

29 isn't old, and he hasn't been in too many wars, but it's becoming increasingly possible that he is past his athletic peak.

It could just be that he couldn't handle the pressure of being champion. He was on the side of Cereal boxes and possibly in the top 3 or 4 most famous fighters only 15 months ago. And has gone 0-3 since then.

This is make-or-break for him i feel. A loss to Oliveira and going 0-4 should raise serious early retirement questions.

As for Aldo, more people would be sympathetic to his situation if he carried himself like a champion. Conor has proved in the past year that he genuinely does win and lose like a champion.

Jose has proved he's gracious in victory and a jackas$ in defeat. The stuff he has come out with since his loss is insane. If he took the loss on the chin, kept his head down, i think a lot more would be on his side when it comes to wanting to see the rematch.
