I'm not talking genuine mma fans here obviously, more the crowd that were at the Dublin press conference for the Aldo fight, except tens of thousands of them, out of their minds. It would do mmas image in Ireland no good.

Boom_Bap wrote: » Yes and No. Should he have a say though, he is a fighter in a competition. Other people make the fights, but for some reason he is being allowed dictate his fights. Chelsea can't say who they want to play in the FA Cup final if you know what I mean. So Conor should defend his title to the person who is next up, in this case the interim belt holder. But I can completely see how fighting Aldo again is a step back.
hatrickpatrick wrote: That's what I was hoping, but where the articles says "McGregor will have to serve a minimum two-month fight suspension until 20 October, with no contact training permitted until 5 October", does that not imply that even if it goes get reduced, the minimum two training restriction until 5/10 will still apply?
Saipanne wrote: » Some reason? Come on. The UFC is a business, not a sport. The sport is mma, but it's under the umbrella of a business. Conor is BY FAR the biggest star they have, that's why he has so much power. It's all about money. You surely know this?

Being able to watch it back on Fight Pass in HD and rewind by 10 seconds, then watching the slow-mos in the replays makes such a difference! :O

Angry Diaz fan pulls gun and starts shooting over McGregor's UFC 202 win Tis past Saturday, just after midnight (local time) in Joplin, Missouri, police were called to the Flying J truck-stop on the eastern edge of the city after reports of a man firing a weapon into the night’s sky. Between the Denny’s and Blue Beacon Truck Wash, Joplin PD apprehended 25-year-old Las Vegas resident Ulysses Liaina Jr. without incident and recovered a 9mm Ruger handgun and 13 spent bullet casings. “Witnesses and friends all said he just pointed it straight up in the air. And so he wasn’t aiming at anybody,” said Captain Bob Higginbotham, who spoke to local outlet KZRG. When police asked Liaina his reasons for discharging his firearm in a public place, they received an unusual answer. Liaina allegedly told officers he shot into the air because he was upset that Conor McGregor had just defeated Nate Diaz in their much anticipated rematch at UFC 202. “It was apparently his method of venting,” added Higginbotham. Liaina was charged with a single count of unlawful use of a weapon. In Missouri, that offense can be categorized as either a misdemeanor or a felony - depending on the circumstances. If found guilty, Liaina may incur up to $5,000 in fines. No one was harmed in the incident. Ulysses Liaina Jr. is considered innocent until proven guilty.

And if a doctor clears him to train, the NSAC have no say what he does in Dublin That's just his fight purse though. He made a lot more that 1 and 3 million for those fights. North of $10m, some estimates put him as high as $15m all up. The $3m takes the record off Brock's $2.5m, I can't imagine he'd want to increase it to $5m as it just increases his tax bill. That's assume PPV share isn't taxed the same and income, if it is then it's irrelevant.

Fight purse is obviously taxed as income by the government (There's no state tax in nevada) as it's basically pay for doing a job. But surely the PPV money could be handled differently for the sake of some tax avoidance. If he's paying 40% on the lot he surely needs a new accountant. :pac:
The Rooster wrote: » But Conor still lives in Ireland, doesnt he? Irish residents are taxed on their worldwide income, wherever earned. So if Conor is still Irish resident, he'd be paying total tax at 53%-55% on the full whack. From an Irish perspective purse fee and PPV share would be treated exactly the same (income).
