Official Conor McGregor thread (part 2). Read warning in 1st post

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 2.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.
Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.

Eddie is the current UFC and former 2 time Bellator champion. He did have 2 close decisions while in the UFC against 2 ex champions ( Petis is an ex UFC champion and Gilbert is a 2 time strikeforce champ). Dont Count Eddie out as a fighter man. He is a legit warrior.

He is just looking for big money fights as all the other fighters theese days and Conor is the biggest pay day. personally i would love to see that fight. Hopefully, it comes to fruition.

I know he's a legit warrior, but he could have been easily been cut if those fights we the way they should have went, IMHO he lost them both but especially the Gil flight. He has no right to say what he's saying in that article after the performances he's put in since he joined the UFC, that's the point I'm making. He's just begging for a "fued" to start so he can get a bit of quick cash before Khabib suplexs him into oblivion.

Cowboy didn't fight smartly in that fight though, he completely abandoned it for the most part and just stood in front of Nate and traded.

Yeah I'd like to see him use his roundhouse more too, would make it harder for Nate to roll the straight left as he could be leaning back into a head kick.

We've never seen him use an inside leg kick so I think that's plausible but he's used low side kicks very successfully against Siver and had some success when he used the oblique kick against Nate.

Yeah he landed one, ask any of Jon Jones opponents about the damage. I'm not saying he's gonna tear a guys MCL with it but it gives Diaz something else to think about when he walks in for a 1-2. Unless you have a Muay Thai background, leg kicks purpose isn't damage primarily, but that doesn't mean they aren't helpful.

Nate is v.heavy on the front foot. The plan the last time was to attack that leg, Conor didn't follow it. There's no reason why that wouldn't be the plan this time again. He surely realises it was a mistake to freestyle the last time.

Hard leg kicks, Nate won't check, will start walking them down. If he tries to counter with a big punch he might be open for low feint, high kick.

I meant for Conor. He uses them to close the distance, sometimes defensively and to setup his left hand and to give the fighter something to think about. Conor is never going to do enough damage with leg kicks to significantly influence a fight.

He does that with a lot of his spin kicks, his jumping kicks and his push kicks. But I can remember him throwing many leg kicks as set ups

Exactly.They'll leave you with majorily reduced mobility.

Have a look at the what Matt Mitrione did to Kimbo with them way back. Brutal stuff, even heavy knees to the legs on the ground.

Conor mentions he weighed 167 before leaving for the fight, which would mean Diaz probably had 20+ lbs 'advantage'

didnt seem to effect him during grappling and he fought off those take down attempts, (except at the very end)

I'm a sucker for believing in the hype from fighters and their coaching team. As far as I was concerned conor will be dancing around for 5 rounds peppering Diaz. I only noticed a small increase in his cardio compared to the last fight. I see conor been capable for 3 rounds. Can he increase that to 4 or 5 rounds? And if so what type of time frame?

Also does fighting at 155 or 145 automatically increase his gas tank? Is that how it works?

Too much lactic acid build up in the extra muscle slows him down at the higher weight.

The rematch won't happen for a year or so I'd suggest.

Would say he will fight Aldo at 205 and is just playing hardball now as he knows he's in an epic position. Could be doing it just to ruffle Dana's feathers given what he said about him before the presser when he arrived late.

However, if the UFC allowed him to keep his FW belt until March or April without defending it, then I could see him fighting Alverez at 205, then Aldo in March, then give Nate the rematch next August or thereabouts and if McGregor had beaten Alverez at 205, that would then make the third Diaz fight a lightweight title fight. Epic.

Delighted for mcgregor and team sbg. Conor went straight back into the lions den and put his reputation and his coach's reputation on the line. Huge balls to do what he did. A lesser man would of never took that rematch
