No, when you are a chronic worrier i don't think its possible to be happy for long. I get glimpses of happiness but they don't last long.

Yes, I realised I am happy. People are often to busy about thinking about the future, or what they want.Never content with their present situation and incessantly buying the latest consumer goods that they think will make them "happy".But I think it's when you buy too much consumer goods and take a look at your wallet and realise the void that you're in.Contentment with life starts with something more primordial than acquiring the latest Iphone. I think it starts with being loved.

As G.K. Chesterton once put it, "there are two ways to get enough, one is two accumulate more and more, and the other is to desire less".

I'm happy. I feel it's a bit self indulgent to be miserable because I always feel there are people less fortunate than myself. Like that guy I ran over on my way into work this morning.

Don't know about you, but consumer goods like fuel oil, cat food, and toilet roll are not things I think I could "desire less". To me, the concept of "enough" means, in a nutshell, being able to cover all my bills and have enough left over to buy things that are good quality and long-lasting and cheaper in the long-term, even if they are not the cheapest on the shelf.

Not really. Main reasons being a mentally ill family member and my own ongoing health problems. Secondary reason being issues with my living situation exaccerbating my health problems.

But my job situation improved considerably recently so things are better than they were and in time this should allow me to improve the issues with my accommodation.

I have a lot going on at the moment, have a couple of big projects on the go both personal and professional with lots of money riding on both and trying to get the best value and quality out of each

In other words I am wrecked, working hard on both and juggling several things at once and stressed to the gills

Putting that all aside I am happy as can be, I generally try and treat life in the spirit of the attached song and everything works out fine in the end

In my opinion it's all a balancing act between the masks you wear and the real you
IF you neglect the real you the voice in your head ,the feeling in your gut ,however you experience self
it will grow like a tumor until
you are the guy who works in fiance but all he wants to do is paint or (vice versa)
so one day he's hanging with his work colleagues having a smoke outside ,it's happy hour, everything is rosy ,
He's next in line for promotion and the boss is loving him right now
Then one of the lads rolls up a joint ,he goes ''**** it'' why not it's Friday
he smokes it like there's no tomorrow,next thing that voice in his head is back ,''Mr painter guy'' and his getting louder and louder
''MR fiance guy'' starts to panic ,he's exposed ,the masks are dissolving right before his minds eye , &
''Mr painter guy'' is out in all his glory and this time he's not going away like before too be pushed back into subconscious
I want answers says MR ''painter guy'' ,please not now says ''Mr fiance'' guy
Mr painter guys says listen mate ,I want to paint ,you want to paint ,I am you and you are me
Mr fiance guy goes NO, i'm just ****ing high and I need to get outta here because i'm paranoid as ****
so Mr Fiance guy goes home and starts too paint a masterpiece FOR Himself

There are much healthier ways if you are like me and need help looking inside, like meditation,seclusion, mushrooms maybe yoga ,
& don't be afraid off weed paranoia ,it's not a sign off weakness ,look at it more off a sign off clarity,it will go away when it's time

I wouldn't say that having a dulled affect is necessarily the road to happiness.

But it is true that many people (myself included) invest things with much more significance than they deserve, and believe our own made-up scare stories about them.
