Caught a ~1000 tentacruel today, hatched bulbasaur.
Lost about 30 great balls trying to get a victreebell, had to give up in the end :mad:
Gym here has 5 pokemon, 27000 prestige, and someone appears to be working on raising the prestige after I finished up a few mins ago
Hopefully it'll stay there a while ...

Anyone know of any good spots for Pokemon in either Belfast? Seen loads of posts about good places in Dublin, and I remember seeing something about Scyther's in Ormeau park, can anyone confirm this or suggest other spots?

Yeah, just go to the shop and click the shield icon on the top right straight after taking the gym. Holding the gym for a few seconds is more than enough time to claim your coins. You won't get any bonus coins for holding it for hours on end so it doesn't really matter if it gets retaken quickly by the other teams. Just go back the next morning, re-take the gym for yourself and claim the coins again.

I took a gym in Sandyford Industrial estate one morning just before 6am. I had it for all of 5 minutes before a procession of cars appeared one by one to win it for the blue team. Taken to level 4 in minutes.

You can collect the coins straight away after taking the gym. It's only after collecting coins for the 2nd time, 3rd time, etc.. that you wait for 21 hours.

Take the gym, collect the coins straight away. After 21 hours if the gym has been taken by someone else, re-take the gym and collect the coins again. Rinse and repeat.

The most I have held was 3 at once. Just long enough to collect the coins.

On a weekend in a business park after work hours lol.

Has anyone here actually managed to hold a gym for long enough to win coins? Notwithstanding the gyms the botters are holding in town, they seem to change hands very quickly. I saw one recently at level 8, held by the red team and a couple of hours later it was level 8 held by the yellow team. Where I work there are about 5 gyms nearby and they're constantly changing red, blue, yellow.

It seems kind of pointless.

What's so hard to understand? Someone uses a bot to constantly farm pokemons and level up quickly 24/7, while he/she is doing whatever else they do. They then have to plenty of candies to evolve and stardust to powerup etc..

They have been using programs on their PCs that log in 24/7 and are programmed to walk constantly and catch/transfer/evolve/spin/hatch everything in sight. They use GPS spoofing to roam areas with lots of stops and good Pokémon. When the accounts reach L30+ the scumbags sell on the accounts on grey market places.

It's a program that is designed to play for you and accumulate more xp and stardust then humanly possible and can ping servers for the best possible monsters. They may then log in and take gyms via there phone or bots can possibly do this.

Those botters I linked the pics of in my post, they had the Phoenix Park gym at level 7, I had never seen it this high before. :mad:

i think one of the worst is phoenix park all blue and even the ones in the zoo taken over during the night i don't know whether a load of keepers are player, but surely can't get close enough to them gyms at night.

First time in town and wow. Some serious amount of pokestops.

Walked through tepees green and Merrion square caught myself a few new pokemon.

And my highest wild catch at 991 cp magma. He is now my strongest Mon at almost 1100 after upgrades.

A school of carps
A herd of drowsee

A new jynX
A new fearow from evolving

And rakeep of others
Even had full bag twice after deleting loads of revives.

Well worth the anguish and the trip.

I had close enough to 60 pokes to evolve so went ahead and popped a lucky egg and did the evolutions. A good 70% of those are your usual Pidgeys, Weedles and Rattatas for the XP.

But I did have a couple of first time evolutions for the Pokedex. Finally had enough candies to evolve a Meowth into a Persian, Shelder into a Cloyster, Seel into Dewgong, Venonat into Venomoth, Cubone into Marowak, Mankey into Primeape, Machoke into Machamp and Slowpoke into Slowbro. Slowbro is the strongest at over 1600CP.

Also have way over the amount of candies needed for a Gengar, but my strongest Gastly is only 400CP. I'm hoping to find a stronger one so I decided against evolving it.

Got more than 60k XP and several new entries on the Pokedex. Not a bad day of Pokemon Go so far at all

Yeah, town is really the place you should go if you want to build up your pokeballs and try catch some water Pokemon. I've been there a few times and it's always been really good for hard to catch Pokemon, given I live nowhere near a Pokestop and, like most others here, continue to attract Rattatas, Weedles and Pidgeys. Thank God I've a use for them all when I use my lucky egg and pidgeycalc as otherwise I might just quite playing!

I normally don't go into Dublin city centre, but got a bus into town. Fúcking hell, anyone who works in town and has a bus along the quays must be on a high level. Loads of pokestops and just pokemon after pokemon. I was between 2 lures before and that was nothing compared to the bus route along the quays. I missed so many stops I was actually hoping for bad traffic. Got a few km on my eggs too.

Choose your Pokemon carefully, I took a gym with a 2000+ Dragonite last night, like these, the gyms themselves were low level, so I was able to throw multiple pokemon at the Dragonite (a 700CP Jinx, did serious damage).

Ice is super effective against Dragonite.
