Your incident sounds awful, did she return with a fully licenced driver?

a few times recently, i've forgotten to take the L plate down in the car after my wife has been driving - and it makes life more dangerous. it's like a red rag to a bull, a certain cohort of drivers simply *have* to overtake you because they're clearly terrified of being stuck behind a learner. i've seen two absolutely ludicrous overtaking manouevres in a few weeks, the likes of which you'd usually see a couple of times a year.

none of these happened in rush, though.

I don't know, and can no longer ask her, alas, but from memory I think she talked of a long, maybe tree-lined, downhill stretch going straight to a pier. But this was in the 1920s; roads may have changed.

Was commuting in this morning, heading along the Lusk by-pass and approaching a roundabout

The road to the right was clear and there was no oncoming traffic. As I approached the roundabout I could see a car approaching from the left (the Rush Road:p). Thought I would put my foot down to get through. Felt like the car driver was doing something similar as when I was entering the roundabout they were not slowing - in fact it almost felt like they were accelerating!

As panic was setting in I realised I had no-where to go. My life was flashing in front of my eyes as I veered to the right only then to have to straighen due to the raised bit on the exit. Probably only missed that by less than foot as the car driver suddenly realised I was there (probably due to the screaming!!)

Probably but the amount of near misses I've had on the Remount roumdabout in Lusk due to them not yielding to traffic already on the roundabout is ridiculous!
