I use it well diluted to scrub my tyres,
Wouldnt be without surfex. Mighty stuff.:D

A few purchases when at waxstock last weekend.

Simple piece of foam but saves the knees when working low down on the car. Fold it up and you can use it as a seat.

Saved me when polishing the lower panels of the car.

And finally a Flex 3401 used it yesterday to polish the car what a machine. Not as easy to use as a DAS6.

If you are using it to remove then warm up the mix of surfex, that's what they recommend for removing there underseal type wax. It works on that very well so should do same.

If its persistant stain you could, not saying you should, you cou use a super soft rubber (eraser) with out visible damage, a course type rubber will take layer of seal with it. I have never done it myself though, but have seen and been told about it couple times.

I'd guess his difficulty is due to Forced rotation. The DAS6 will bog down if pressure is applied or is more forgiving for leaning the machine on the edge of the pad. So if the machine isnt anything other than flat to the surface, it's more likely to bounce or hop. It'll just take a little while to gain the experience with what is a totally different beast!

Got a chance to work on the XC90 today until it started to p*ss rain.

I did:

wash (AG Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner)
dry
de-tar (TarX)
rinsed
de-iron (IronX)
rinsed
claybarred (Bilt Hamber Auto Clay)
rinsed

At this point it started to rain. I assume tomorrow I can just wash, dry and begin polishing? Car won't be moving an inch until tomorrow.

Yeah, you'll be fine by just giving it a quick wash and dry!

Hey Curran

Need to get some all purpose microfibres, something like a multipack and cheap. Any suggestions?

Also do you know when the 3 inch backing plate will be back in stock. My DAS6 set up uses an allen key and bolt but I would imagine the bolt dia and thread pattern would be the same as the backing plate with the thread bolt fixed.

What do you plan to use the MFS for? If for doing interior surfaces, engine bays, work horse type jobs, anything really. ...Home Store & More or B&Q should have something cheap to suit. Sure even an old t-shirt that's fit for the bin, cut into sections will do.
Just don't just anything like that on paintwork or delicate surfaces.

When you but decent ones for paintwork and they start to show signs of deteriorating that's when I relegate them to such jobs.

Expecting the smaller backing plate on Tuesday!

Can you get a picture of your fitting to the machine; sounds strange.

Amazon basics used to be like a bag of 50 for some 15 euro's from memory. Will do most jobs but not all.

The Person I would try to contact would be Larry Kehoe, I think he lives around New Ross. ( Used to have Cleancar.ie )
He still does some detailing and if he could not do it I would imagine he could recommend a person for the job.

Put in my first ever order with Detailing Shed at 2pm today and got an email two hours later saying that it has been dispatched. Well impressed!

Only a very small order but I have a rake of stuff here already, I'm hoping that the weather this weekend will be in my favour!

Yep. I found it great when driving at speeds above 70 km/h but absolutely pointless at any speed below that. It also left that kind of "sludge" on the windscreen if I was using the wipers which reduced visibility.

That's what I'm worried about. I've used it before and I found it does that but wasn't sure if I'm just imagining things! I could see it at night and even my dashcam would pick it up but since I've stopped using RainX I haven't seen it.

Presuming you mean the halfords one in that case No.......but.......

I have been using AutoBrite's rain repellant recently. Performs a lot better than orchard county hydrophobe which i used previously.

Works well from 50km/h onwards and holds well for about 3-4 weeks before loosing performance, it still had some legs after about 10 weeks when I topped it up last sunday.

The orchard one would work from 50 km/h but after about a week 10 days it would have lost its main performance and need quite heavy rain and 80+ km/h and be pretty much gone from windscreen in 4-6 weeks.

Just so happen to be talking about it monday, quick vid in rain on way home monday

I find periodically cleaning the wiper blades with an alcohol based wipe or IPA solution prevents the sludge or residue build up on the windscreen.

If your short of the ol dollar I would say just get a quality shampoo/mitt and concentrate on having a good technique.

By technique I mean things like 2 bucket method or 3, extra one for wheels only.

I wouldnt go the wd40 etc route

Well chap, not exactly a regular in here the last while but as per chat thread getting my car on the road again after 12 months off it and a major clean up is required.

Went over to Detailing Shed in Ballycoolin and picked up some tasty supplies under the recommendations of Curran (absolute gent by the way!).

Got Dr Leather for the interior - already used some, very impressed.

Bilt Hamber Shampoo
Autoclay for the paintwork
Korrosol fallout remover
OKD Concours Wax which I'm looking forward to trying!
Crazy Mitt for buffing said wax.

All in all delighted. Have some time tomorrow to get cracking at it so I can have some worthy pictures in here.

Thanks again Detailing Shed, highly recommended for all detailing supplies.

Plenty of pictures....dying to see how Concours looks on the Burgundy.

I use Kleen Freaks Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent. Works very well and simple to use. Just don't use on the internal part of the window.
