After quite a bit of research* this evening I find it astonishing that there is no reference to "drug" use in Nordie land during the early 90s and the following years, in relation to there being a pretty good peace there.

There is a lot of reference to drug use, but that would be the Sunday World et al at their best.

The whole "dance scene" was huge there, and was a tidal wave that destroyed most of the traditional recruitment process and ideologies!

It gets no love.

Hardly surprising though.

It's a pretty **** piece in fairness, why concentrate on cyclists when way more motorists do the same, as too do buses? I know it's lifted from a newspaper somewhere, probably the Indo, but the usual approach a story from the point of view the cyclists are a law unto themselves.

Last week I posted asking was there a motherlode of cheap secondhand bike wheels, because a friend who's particularly stuck at the moment had had her wheel stolen.

Five people immediately leaped forward, offering either spare wheels or simply to buy her a wheel.

Crocked came out to her place and fitted a practically brand-new wheel, and also gave her a spare tyre.

This act of huge kindness actually changed my friend's whole demeanour. She'd been kind of balled-up and dark and frightened, despairing of finding new work. Now she's her old gung-ho self, and is taking action on work in a big way – not to mention flying around the city and loving it. I owe a big karma debt to all here.

I'm completely blown away by the incredible kindness and gallantry of everyone here. I can't thank everyone here enough.

Yeah, that's what I find odd, the article seems to be oddly cyclist specific.

Should the dashcam thread in the Motors forum be closed as it's facilitating users to breach data protection law, since boards.ie won't let you fart without being worried about the legal implications.

The procedure on buses is kinda different as they continuously record but it is only viewed/inspected in response to a specific incident and is otherwise 'overwritten' after a certain period, usually 45 days. This is completely different to cyclists and motorists uploading footage to Youtube etc.

Sigh. Gonna be a couple of weeks before I can train again. Seems my muscle went into a spasm when I got up out of the saddle. Physio broke me up today and now I'm in work in absolute agony
I've never taken any heavy medication in my life and the valium I was given by the doc yesterday really hit me for six.
I was thinking about buying myself a Turbo to use in a few days (I was buying one anyway) just to help ease me back in. I hate setbacks!

Sedentary job and train like that you better get used to physios/doctors.

Slow down, figure out why you got broken and build yourself up.

Once you are able I'd be spending money on good personal trainer to assess your weaknesses rather than spending it on doctors/physios when you get broken.

Some good news. An area most Dublin cyclists will be familiar with. Glenasmole vally / Featherbeds has been bought by the state for the purposes of making it part of the wicklow national park.

Interestingly Eamonn Ryan mentions in an interview there are plans for a greenway along the dodder all the way to Kippure. This would be a fantasic idea!
