We all have these instincts, and it's okay to have them,. But we have to have a word with ourselves and remind ourselves that these attacks are incredibly rare. You're probably more likely to die in a car accident whilst thinking about terrorism than you are to die at the hands of a terrorist.

You don't waste much time obsessing about dying in a car crash, I hope. So the next time you see a guy who's obviously a Muslim, just remember you're in less danger than you were the last time you sat in traffic, or mounted a ladder.

Are you aware that most women that undergo FGM have it perpetrated upon them by women at the behest of women? It's amazing the 'choices' you make when you're brainwashed from birth to accept subservience.
Then there are the likes of Channel 4 reporter Fatima Manji who never wore a hijab, until recently, for whom it is a political decision. There's a lot of that going on too, a clear message of a rejection of Western values. Why else would you choose to wear desert clothes in a place like Dublin?

Lightly poking fun at religion is emblematic of our liberty. If a grown adult is going to speak to men with her face covered in case we might seduce her, at least allow us the courtesy of lightly mocking such a daft notion.

We owe a basic level of decency to our fellow humans, until such time as they fail to reciprocate that respect. But under no circumstances is any belief system automatically afforded freedom from satire, be that Capitalism, Socialism, Christianity, or Islam.

A little over half have CLAIMED to be Syrian when in reality only a small number are Syrian and the rest may never be properly identified without DNA profiling.

Europe has no control over who crosses the borders at the moment and these types of attacks will continue and get worse until it is taken under Kontrol and order is restored.

There are thousands of Iraqi Shia Militia as well pro Assad Alewite militia from Syria and Kurd ish militia that came in.

These people although militant do not pose a threat to Europe as the sunnis do since Muslim violence against the West is mostly restricted to Sunnis. The opposite is true as well. Western Violence against Muslims is mostly against Sunnis.

The point is that the shia/kurds are no real threat for Europe.

As women are clearly considered inferior beings that need men to control every aspect of their lives by Islam the thinking is that they have to be wrapped up because they are mentally challenged and can't control themselves.

Throughout the 20th century, I can think of about 40 deaths by Islamic terrorism in Western Europe, despite millions of Muslims coming here in massive waves of migration. This pales in comparison to terrorism at the hands of Irishmen.

Large scale terrorism only began here in 2004, after the war in Iraq.

And even today, Irishmen have contributed more mortalities to Western European terrorism, despite being vastly outnumbered by Muslims and Muslim immigrants in the region.

Anyone with any type of basic pistol training in would have killed lot more.

Didn't hold off 2000 police either by all accounts he went to a park and committed suicide,

You make it out like he single handed fought and held off better trained and better police and security forces

Listened to some military people today on radio who would doubt he could have done that.

Yeah, I can buy it. Look at it this way; he'd been apparently planning and obsessing over this for about a year. Likely he talked it over, whether "hypothetically" or not with this sixteen-year-old too. He knew what he was doing, he had probably decided where he was going to make his escape to, and he did.

Meanwhile, first there's the delay until the police can be alerted and information can be passed on - no-one else knew what was going on, there were reports coming in of shootings in several places, the understandable automatic thought was "terrorist attack", which may or may not have meant the police were focusing their attention on the most likely places for him to go - where there were large numbers of people to attack - when what he was aiming for was shooting teenagers specifically, particularly those he'd targeted and tried to lure there with the Facebook post.

The call in that there was shooting in the city centre was very unfortunate; it drew attention away from where he actually was, and it was a plausible story, taking into account the "usual" way terrorists act (see "aiming for large number of people" above). And no-one would expect a spree shooter (and particularly not a terrorist of the type expected!) to spend several minutes getting into a row with some guy on a balcony either.

That he killed eight unsuspecting people with a pistol by opening fire on them in a busy McDonalds is hardly surprising. He got..well, "lucky", or rather, they were very unlucky, because who the hell expects to be shot at in a McDonalds?

No, sadly, it is not surprising. It is always more shocking in retrospect that X got away with Y, but look at the Cumbria shootings. Or Columbine, or Sandy Hook or any of the rest. No-one ever expects it to happen to them, and there will always be a period of confusion when first responders are trying to work out what, where and how to stop it.

It's not like he was holding off 2k police with a pistol. He ran away from 2k police while they were still deploying and trying to ascertain how many shootings there actually had been.
