There are companies that allow step back for more than 3 years.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, I asked a question "How can you have bonus protection....?" The OP clarified his situation later on, advising of a mistake in that he only has Step Back instead of his original assumption that he had Full Protection, an easy thing to do.

Another example of you leaping in with what you think you've just read, without the grace to admit you might be wrong or mis-quoting other posters

You said how is that possible when you don't have a bonus.

Telling him he doesn't have a bonus to protect and questioning how can he have protection on it is the same thing as saying its not possible because if he didn't have a bonus it wouldn't be.

I have the good graces to know what I'm talking about and not hide behind a re-reg so that's good enough for me.

TPFT 620 (no extras)
Fully comp 656 or 59 a month x 12 with windscreen,driving other cars 3rd party,brakedown,250 excess

Went with fully comp.Car is worth nothing but with so little difference well worth it.

Close to Allianz:

AIG (but you have to download app :eek:) 699
25 plus (but customer service was disaster for me) 720

In total I spent over 3 h on the phone but well worth it

Try getting quotes for TPF&T rather than TPO.

TPO nowadays is a bit of an alarm bell for insurers.

Shopped around, best quote was is Blue Insurance for €401 (started at 475) after a lot of haggling. (Same cover as Liberty)

Won't do a 2 year quote as the car was imported. I thought all cars were imported !

Any point in looking around more, or should I go with Blue ?

Insurance companies are dreading automous cars as they'll lose a whole industry. They're already off looking at how to fill the gap. I'm guessing not wanting to insure 90/00 is a blip or only happens here aswell.

Wanted to do a week long substitution from next monday from my own car (diesel focus) to a ford puma. Was told the focus is a group 15 and the puma is group 25. If it is 8 groups or more higher they can't do it.

Complete madness. I'll have to do a permanent change for the sake of 5 days and incur extra costs as a result

Price for last year: Not sure, because it was on a 530d, then an Opel Speedster and then the Merc with different payments for changes. Roughly 600 fully comp on the BMW though.

Renewal (on the Merc): Cheapest quote I've gotten so far is 1077 fully comp with AA. Includes AA membership. Didn't pay 1000 when I was a young lad driving an FTO!

Yes, you'd think they'd be happy enough with millions of us actually driving an old corolla with airbags and abs. Rather than pushing for more and more and more modern cars with more and more and more autonomy, incrementing all the time to full autonomy.

At least one company who turned away customers with 15 years claims free driving because their car was old actually saw their proportion of "good" "no payout" policies fall.

I mean, it's crazy isn't, who in insurance would have thought that the majority of people with really good driving records are actually a good insurance risk even if their car is old!

Will they row back? Or will 10years be the new 15years. (Just in Ireland obviously )

Has anyone successfully gotten the details of how their quote was calculated from their insurer?

I am ringing FBD tomorrow as mine has gone from €440 to €675 this year.

What id like to see from them is the exact formula and risk calculations they used to come up with my renewal quote. As my circumstances haven't changed in a year, my premium shouldn't

What I want is where each euro of my premium is going, and how it was calculated. I will then take this to the insurance or consumer ombudsman to make a complaint.

I also have a feeling that the insurance companies are price fixing the market. As I got 25 quotes the other day online, and most of them were far too similar to be coincidence
