I will probably watch a few videos before I start and see. Destiny I started with a Titan, Borderlands 2 was a psycho....... so the common theme for me is flaming projectiles..... who suits that in Overwatch? :pac:

I'd honestly just play Mercy / Trojburn / Rheinheart / Soldier 76 for the 1st ~3 hours.

Lets you get used to the game modes, maps, balance of the 4 types, and you have a choice of 1 from all 4 pools of Hero types

I'll make a little table for tables sake. But I'm not an Authority on the subject (Totz, Kaiser etc might say stuff totally different to me).

I'm really into the whole "Team Play - Team Win" thing as opposed to just running several poorly skilled Tracers (incl me) just cause that's what an App suggests

That's cause he is useless on that map. Very little Vertical space, bad sight lines

Trojborn is just easy mode. Place Turret and Babysit turret. He's situational though

You'd probably like the Ranged Tanks, particularly Zaryha and Roadhog.

Thing is, if you want to play overwatch the way people generally play Flaming Hammers, you're gonna have a bad time.
It's all about team class synergy and if you want be lone wolfing getting kills, you're basically not gonna do that as a Tank.
You'd be better off as Reaper. And we have tonnes of good Reaper players. Exaar is a BEAST as Reaper

I dunno if Kaiser used Boards tbh. Me and Totz play together a LOT but thing is, we probably have vastly different individual experiences (he likes D.Va I do not), but a lot of the same Team experiences.

I can be pretty vocal (like Sir Pryze) about where we are falling down class wise and why.
Thing is I often can't execute on that strategy as some of the best counters to issues we have are Pharaoh, Hanzo, Widowmaker etc And they take a lot more practice, practice I don't have.

I'm still only getting used to playing with half of the characters after a month. You'll find your own strengths and weaknesses fairly early on.

Tbh, in group matches I just tend to go with the flow. If someone on the team suggests that we need a particular hero on side I'm happy to give it a lash. If it helps then great and if not then it's not a huge deal to switch to one you feel will help in the situation.

Play vs AI games are kinda boring but a great way to get accustomed to characters. Plus you get decent enough XP from them. On hard difficulty and with a bunch of randoms, it's bloody tough enough too.

Teamwork and communication is pretty vital, which may sound obvious but imo it's more true in this game than it is in Destiny (I even reduced myself to buying a new controller so my mic doesn't keep slipping out), due to the number of vastly different characters you can select and the different ways it's possible to effectively counter each possible opposing team composition depending on the way they're playing. Tactics can change immensely over the course of any one game.

Lookit though. It's a very fun game to play and that's the main thing for me. Competitive is a bit of a shit show right now so I wouldn't be too worried about that in Season 1. Lots of balancing and other things like how matches are decided and what happens if someone leaves need to be sorted in that mode. Noobzerker was banned from competitive already for rage quitting :pac:

Anyway, as said; snipers are badly needed. So hopefully one of you can master Widowmaker or Hanzo and make everyone's lives easier =p

I just took a look at a few videos for widowmaker and hanzo, hanzo is interesting with the bow so I might start there

Widowmaker is unfortunately not in a good place "Meta" wise apparently cause she was nerfed a bit, and has a really high skill curve.

Hanzo is more forgiving if you can get over getting used to the arrow phyiscal drop off and the how to decide your draw lengths to mean you are moving better ADS/Not ADS

Much more forgiving than Widowmaker IMHO, her gun is HARD to hit with I find. At least with Hanzos full force draws you can take on a Bastion or Torb Turret.

Plus Hanzo has a really cheap a$$ ultimate power (imho) I f**king hate those dragons

The drop off I wouldnt mind as I got very used to that with snipers in BF3 and BF4, thats what kind of put me on Hanzo was the fact of the bow and the bit of skill required for range kills etc. Hanzo has dragons?????

There's a 2 minute tutorial and then you go straight into PvP Quick Play. There is no campaign

Nothing in the game is hidden behind "levels" aside from Cosmetics and Competitive (locked behind level 25) a level 200 player has the same stuff as a level 5 player
