Cow bulling and he followed her into the parlour, I was trying to draft both through to the crush when I was letting the row out, but of course the bull goes to mount the cow and she makes a dart straight in front of me. I had to throw myself into the pit, missed them by inches. Utterly stupid of me not to have given both more respect but I was under pressure that morning as afew other problems so was frustrated already. Them sort of incidents I really don't like repeating because my luck will run out.

The acrs were great with having to walk up and down a lot more than normal. Slow cows are really noticed at this craic. Next milking 5 tomorrow and I get to take the kids to school and herself gets to work a bit of flexitime for the holidays. I can see myself doing this again.

Previous milk recording had one cow over a million. any advice? retest high cows? Ive no clinical mastitis on the farm for the past month and notging on the filter pad either.

Buford T. Justice V wrote: » Nah, I'm lazy:D It's just the way things worked out with slurry going on till after 10. It was nice to relax in the evening tbh without having to rush down and up again. I saw a few bits about it online and said I'd try it and see how it went. The first milking into the tank as well so I will see if there is much change in volumes. It might suit us fairly well as herself can work up a bit of flexitime and I can carry the kids to school. We'll see how it goes but I'd say you would want some relief milking for the midnight milking fairly often.

Timmaay wrote: » Always milk at 9 and 15hr splits here (out of laziness yep ha), it would definitely make sense for me to go every 16hr also but I'm away most weekends during the day, and fair few weekday evenings also, so 2bh I'd see it utterly wrecking my head trying to juggle it. As things stand taking me about 70mins the morning and an hr the evening so don't have it too bad. I'd certainly consider the likes of OAD from Sept on however.

My preferred option would be to have DG outside kt, there have been some important points raised on here regarding our data. I also think the money brings people out who are only interested in the few euro and from past experiences they contribute very little to the group.

Also they had a story of a meath farmer did they they not have the same story a week or 2 ago. Also there is an incentive of 100 euro to take part in the scheme, I missed out on it last year as I only tested 93% rather than the 95% eligible animals- which was probably 2 heifers
