Official Conor McGregor thread (part 2). Read warning in 1st post

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 2.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.
Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.
If you have an issue with a post, please use the report post function. Any off topic posts will be deleted.
Any "Do you even train Bro?" or "I'm an mma fan longer than you" type posts are not permitted either. They only make you look like a fool and as a result, everyone hates you. Yes everyone.

I was just pointing out an obvious benefit of being 170, as you said there wasn't any. Coming in 10lbs light might give him a speed improvements, but he'd u lose power, and be at a disadvantage in the grappling exchanges. I think he's be cray to take that risk vrs Nate.

Fighters coming in below the limit only really happens in the HW division, it almost never happens below that, for good reason. The lighter HWs have no other division as an option, if there was a 235lb division, they'd leave HW tomorrow.

If he can't knock Diaz out, he could win by a TKO or Doctor stoppage without knocking him out. And even if we are saying he can only win by decision, Power also improves his chances of winning on points. It's not scored like amateur boxing, all punches aren't equal

If he comes in giving up a big weight advantage to Diaz he is really killing himself before even throwing a punch, better speed and movement is all well and good, but its a 5 round bout. He is going to tire at some point, or he is going to get caught at some point, and the heavier man will do more damage, the heavier man will have a huge advantage when it comes to grappling, absorbing damage etc

It would not make good sense for Conor to target coming in giving up at least a stone to his opponent in this regard.

The blueprint for beating Diaz is there, applying it is the issue. It is not Conors natural game to have to be patient, to not be able to overwhelm his opponent with superior power and accuracy. He isn't known for shredding someones legs, and using his legs too much leaves himself open to takedowns which is not where he wants to be either.

I am interested to see how he approaches the fight once the action starts, I expect Diaz to be pretty similar to the first with better movement from the start. He doesn't have to do anything different really then use his boxing skills to try pick McGregor off or wait for the opportunity to take it to the ground.

Its all on Conor to change up for this fight which makes it fascinating as in the past you always knew what you were going to get.

If Conor wants to fight the winnder of Aldo (yeah If) then he needs to go into this lean as they will need this fight to happen fairly sharpish as the 145 division needs a champs quick smart.

They should have done it 155 or catch 160. Conor ego may be his undoing, should have moved on.

He can try chew up Nates leg all he wants wont work he will keep coming forward hes relentless wont even try check them,RDA took him down and he was stockton slapping him from guard I would say to finish Nate early is his way of winning now that im thinking of it,cant not get tagged for 5 rds he will eventually get dragged into a war,Nate has a solid chin alright but Conor might find it only takes again his power is negated at the weight which becomes a problem,

Also needs to **** off throwing capoeira and spinning head kicks wont work and are a waste of energy,Diaz is at an advantage as in he doesnt have to worry about a td its a kickboxing match for him.

He can keep coming forward all he likes, RDA ruined his right leg. Without his right leg he had no punching power, limited movement and much weaker TDD.

Not saying Conor will do it or anything.

Main problem for Conor is he could light Diaz up all night, the height and weight difference make it very hard for him to cleanly connect, where-as one well timed punch from Nate and he'll be wobbled again. Not getting hit, especially when his gas tank is low should be his biggest priority but that's not Conor since he came to the UFC. He's the most willing fighter to trade in the UFC.

Your use of the word never is not accurate there though. Fought 6 times one year for example, 4 another.

Its part of Conor's style to keep the hands loose though, it is pretty tough to completely change up a style when its what you have been doing for so long.

It was something creeping more and more into his fights though, low hands, talking, eating needless punches. It obviously wasn't an issue for him at the lower weights but bigger hitters will obviously do more damage with clean connections.

Not really tbf. There were only two takedowns in the fight and they didn't stay down for long on either occasion. End of the first Josh took Nate down and got the some nice elbow shots to his head and then in the middle of the second Nate took Josh down and he got the better of that one with multiple punches to to his head. Overall though the fight was all about Thomson's headkicks (fight starts at 2m 40s).

I wouldn't get annoyed by people saying he isn't super active, very few fighters are. He was as active, and more active then the majority of champs, and always fought at least twice a year except when he got the bad run of injury, think it was 2013 or 14 he fought just the once?

I only get annoyed when people try to portray him as an inactive champ. He cleaned out the division, more then once and fought all comers, can't complain about a guy who does that.

to be honest i dont think a champion shouldn't have to defend their built more then twice a year. They always have to train for 5 rounds fights, are under more obligations for media then other fighters.

I'd be pretty happy with any champion that defends twice a year.
