I'm in the 20+ years club. Still have nightmares about not studying the night before the exams

Same though mine are about college mostly. The relief when you wake up and realise is one of life's simple pleasures.

I sometimes have a dream where I have to repeat 6th year for some reason and I'm walking around the halls of my old school in my uniform trying not to look like a man in his 30's

22 years and have never had any recurring dream despite being a bang average exam taker and a repeat student. Does that mean I never really cared in the first place?

It's not so much that it was in Missouri or Chicago or NYC or Alabama.

It's that a significant portion of a large crowd anywhere thought it was appropriate to boo a group of people who silently linked arms in a symbol of peace. It's that they felt they could or should.

It's absolutely mind boggling. There's nothing to not support.

It was grim to watch. The players looked disgusted.

I’m watching Goodfellas for the first time ever.

Is there anyone from the Sopranos who wasn’t in this movie?

Yea it’s a good question cause I really like gangster and mafia stuff.

It’s just one of those things I’ve never watched, pure coincidence.

I just finished it. Going to be honest, I thought it was decent but that's about it.

Sopranos was better. Sure, TV vs film, but the Sopranos was better by a distance IMO.

    Yes.

I think I prefer Godfather to Goodfellas.

I've never seen Casino either, just to throw that out there.

The amount of voiceover in goodfellas annoys me

One of the best films I've ever seen is 'Once upon a time in America' The last film made by Sergio Leone. Utterly stunning portrayal of Gangsters in the USA.

Performances, music cinematography and direction are in a different league. The final cut is the version to watch. It's over 4 hours long but it's worth every second.

So, .....these are talkies..... New fangled stuff. They'll never catch on.

I just like a film that just happens that doesn't need to hold your hand the whole way through. Working in TV and the bits I've worked in its seen as the lazy way out.

On a complete tangent to this...

I remember a few years back Sorkin had a movie about that one poker lady that done all the crimey stuff. I remember I heard a complaint that the movie was awful because it was just basically a sequence of scenes where she said (via voiceover) what she did one after another. And then the review was a rant about “show don’t tell” etc. But it completely missed the point of the movie. It wasn’t a movie about how she ran this poker operation, it was a mavis about why she did it. And the voiceover (I think it was her explaining the story to her solicitor before trial or whatever?) and how it changed and explained in that context was actually the core performance of the film, rather than being a lazy way out.

Not that I thought the film was particularly great myself, but I thought it worked fairly well rather than being lazy and I thought that view of the film spectacularly missed the point. Sometimes the narrator is not just a narrator.

Haven't seen the four hour version, but the regular version is a masterpiece.

The worst film for voiceover, and I say this as a big Lynch fan, is his Dune. Shot after shot of people standing about, while the actors narrate their thoughts. Unwatchable.

Not a movie that involves narration, but a movie that I felt was misinterpreted big time was Shayamalan's Signs.
Great cast with Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix.

But because it had a backdrop of aliens invading earth, it got pegged as purely a Sci fi movie by a lot of people.

But if you watch that movie knowing that dealings with grief and bereavement are a core theme, makes the movie much more enjoyable imo.

    Bloody stupid twist though.

Never watched Goodfellas, any of the Godfather movies, Casino and only watched a couple of episodes of The Sopranos.

Or any Star Wars or Star Trek.

You've missed out on some great TV and film. Star Trek is the best

The first half of this post may be true, the second half is probably true.
