Should she not just consult her HR to see what they can do for her?

She'll need a letter from her doctor / consultant to detail the issues.

Why would it make it difficult to persue the pip ??

There is also the potential now that she is no longer fit to complete the job she was hired to do, which is grounds to be let go without redundancy.

I’ve had employees on pips during which they were certified sick, afterall it’s still just absence, albeit with an acceptable excuse.
