Bleeding Gums

    Hi,

I attend my dentist every 6 months for a check up and clean. I have gum disease from an early age and I am flossing, brushing etc but I'm constantly having a problem with the gum surrounding my back two teeth. The gum will sometime bleed randomly and heavly for say about 30 seconds (not every day, say once every week or two ) It will the bleed when trying to floss it, most days although some days it might not. My back teeth we're not in a good state for a few years (tartar build up), but I have been having them cleaned every 6 months for the last 3 years. The gum between the two back teeth is quite swollen when it bleeds. I use corsadal when it bleeds but its really annoying when it decides to just randomly bleed. I think maybe the gum in undergoing advance stages of gingivitis. Any advice on what to do? The second tooth next to the gum is the only filling I have in my mouth I'm wondering if that is affecting the gum also.

Everytime I go to the dentist I forget to mention it as I might not have happened in a few weeks leading up to seeing him. I was last there for a clean about a month ago.

It could be your home care that's lacking.
Make sure you are brushing the area correctly and that you are removing any plaque on the tooth. Just because you are brushing your teeth doesn't mean you are brushing them correctly. Marginal bleeding as you describe is probably due to plaque control issues.

It could also be due to a local factor such as a defective restoration etc..
