I have a mobile usb stick (hUAWEI) on the 3g network with Three Ireland. I was thinking of changing plan to 4g which will mean getting another connection device for the netbook and will cost more but have a bigger download allowance each month. I live in North County Dublin and was wondering would it be worth the upgrade i.e will the download speed be a lot better?

You can only give it a try and see. 4G in my experience isn't hugely faster than 3G in areas were 3G was poor to start with - due to distance from mast, congestion and topography. However I have found that 4G is much more stable than 3G and instead of daily or sometimes hourly reboots 4G for me hasn't needed a reboot in a month.

The best plan is to get an unlocked 4G router yourself and then use a 3 prepay phone SIM topped up by €20 to test. In fact if it works you'll probably just keep topping the SIM up every 28 days rather than getting a contract ;)
