    Hi all.

Decided to find out where I came from after a recent medical scare made it fairly clear that I probably should know a bit about family medical history and the like. Contact was made from the birth mothers side maybe 8 years back but I decided to take the ostrich approach to that back then.

    So what I have is:
    My birth date (obviously)
The agency that arranged the adoption
    My original first name

Now is it a matter of popping down to the adoption agency and saying something like "hi, I was adopted through your agency in 1987 and I'd like some help in making contact" or is there a bit more to it than that?
