Repeating the year

    Hey,
So, I screwed up. Missed a load of classes for various reasons, did no study at all in first semester and now I'm swamped with extensions and failed assignments. I was wondering how much it would cost to repeat a full year?

I can still pull myself through and pass the year, but it means a bucketload of stress and I wouldn't be happy with how I've done. I would be going into second year only barely understanding the course content and it'd mean giving up my summer to do some repeats and studying to be in a good position for September. I would like to repeat the year to get a better understanding of everything and do my assignments to a quality I'm happy with.

Basically the decider on what I do next is costs.

But that's how much it costs to do it first time round?

if you are eligible for free fees you would have just paid the student contribution charge - your tuition fee is paid for under free fees.

If you repeat the year then you would be on full fees - tuition and student contribution charge

No I needed to pay full fees first time. So there's no different fee for repeating, you pay full fees? Guess I better put my head down then.

I'm on the same boat myself.

I haven't been in since the start of the second semester and have missed everything so far.

Surprisingly, I did ok in the Winter exams..failing only one but failing on labs for the same subject.

So if I was to repeat the year in the first semester would I just have to do that one module?

And then in the second semester I may be able to get one exemption that I still have to find out so would I just have to do the 4 remaining modules?

Anyone have any idea how much it costs to repeat just 1 semester?

again depends on how many modules you have to repeat/do you have to go to class again or just sit exams

there can be a set module fee or a fee per ects credit http://dit.ie/registration/feesandgrants/repeatfees

    hope that helps

How's it going? I'm in the same boat. Have to repeat some lab components and exams coz i was dossing through most of semester 1. Get some info online first and then see if you can get in touch with your course tutor. It's best to talk to him/her about it. Good luck!
